SYNOPSIS The aim of this course is to expose students to information technology and its applications in a business organisation. The course emphasise on knowledge, understanding and also practical skills. Students will be trained to use application software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and also identified accounting software. The course also exposes students to the issues related to information technology. OBJECTIVES 1) To develop and consolidate knowledge, understanding and skills in Information Technology. 2) To encourage students to consider the impact of information technology on social, economic, ethical and moral issues. 3) To provide exposure and experience on how to use the general features of application software 4) To equip students on basic skill in using the accounting applications software. LEARNING OUTCOME Upon completion of this course, students should be able to: Identify the elements of Information technology and components of computer system. Understand the concept of database management system. Explain the computer communication and networking of information system Apply the use of word processing, spreadsheet, power point presentation, web design and accounting software Address issues of security, privacy and ethics in computing environment ASSESSMENT Continuous Assessment (Mid Term Exam, Quizzes, Assignments, Case studies) Final Examination Total % 40 60 100

ATTENDANCE Students are required to have at least 80% attendance to be eligible to sit for the final exam. Students with less than 80% attendance can be barred from taking the final examination. STRICTLY NO HAND PHONES Students are not allowed to switch on the phone and answer any call during class lecture.
