Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECED)

1. Demonstrate a diverse innovative thinking; highly content, and pedagogical knowledge;

3. Advocate children’s rights, equality, community, nationalism, and democratic ideas stressing a lifelong learning and application.

X. Course Description

This is a 54-hour, 3-unit course which focuses on the comprehensive understanding of elements of mother tongue, appreciation of local literature, and utilization of
developmentally appropriate language teaching strategies for the mother tongue.

XVII. Classroom Policies


1. Academic honesty is expected at all times. Any student found to have engaged misconduct such as cheating, plagiarism, or collusion is subject to disciplinary sanctions.
2. Proper decorum should be observed as expected from the dignified teachers.
3. Cell phones and other electronic devices shall be turned off (or in silent mode) when entering the class.
4. Completion of all assigned readings from the text and any supplemental materials and on – time delivery is expected. No late output will be accepted.
As outlined in the Student Handbook (Section 8 – Attendance Requirements)
5. A student is considered absent from class if he/she arrives 15 minutes after the class has started. He/she marked “tardy” if he/she arrives late but not after 15 minutes and gets
half-absence. A half-absence maybe added to another half-absence to make a full absence.
6. An absence maybe excused if the student concerned has been authorized in writing by the dean, to officially represent the school in any activity or function. However, the
student is held responsible for all assignments and for the course content missed, regardless of reasons of his/her absence.
7. A student who has incurred more than ten (10) consecutive days of absence, for no valid reasons is to be marked DROPPED, and any student who drops a course after
the midterm will receive a failing grade.
8. A student who comes to class not in proper uniform or in slippers will be marked absent. Remember your attendance and punctuality is a reflection of your
professionalism.
(In case of disaster, the said policy will be applied)
9. In a blended learning context, students’ attendance and performance shall be assessed through their prompt acceptance and sub mission of modules in a Moodle-based
Learning Management System (LMS) platform. Beforehand, students must inform their professor regarding their technology-access classification to wit: Category 1 (no gadget
and internet connection), Category 2 (with gadget but slow internet connection), or Category 3 (with gadget and full access to internet connection).

10. For students who belong to Categories 1 and 2, their modules shall be delivered by the University to a designated kiosk in every municipality called SSU-LGU Academic
Learning Center (ALC). Upon receipt of the learning materials, students must signify the date and time of its acceptance. After accomplishment of the exercises in the module,
well-packed and decontaminated module shall be returned to the designated ALC on an agreed schedule.
