Community Extension Services, Director
The University of Mindanao

Dear Mr. Sazon;

Greetings!

In emerging nations, there is a growing need for efficient garbage management as urbanization
rates rise. Implementing a waste management system that is good for both the environment and
the general public's health is essential to creating sustainability in this area. Opening a transfer-
and-recycling facility might be a step in the direction of a more sustainable society. By reducing
the travel time for trucks that collect waste to the final disposal site, a transfer station could offer
a more effective waste management system. A recycling station might benefit the municipality
by raising knowledge of the value of material recycling and reuse, which would encourage
residents to support the goal of a better waste management system.
The organization has developed a project called "FROM A POLLUTION TO A SOLUTION:
AN ECOBRICK AWARENESS MOVEMENT FOR A PLASTIC-FREE COMMUNITY" that
will bring together members of the community, especially those people aged 18 to 50 who want
to take part in the training and be educated about environmental awareness with the help of
experts who have been invited as guest speakers. The Adlaon Street district in Barangay
Salvacion, Panabo City, will host this project from September 19 to November 21, 2023.
Instead, the organization humbly requests your assistance in securing project approval and event
execution. We anticipate a favorable response to this issue. Thank you and God bless us all!
Sincerely yours,

VIANCA CHI

Identified Problems Affecting EPS

Figure 1. ESP (EARTH PROTECTION SOCIETY)

The lack of proper environmental education and trade expertise and training for BRGY
is only one of many concerns that the young environmental activist of the organization have
brought to light as opposing the EPS Organization. Residents of Salvacion, Panabo City people
are struggling as a result, which contributes to environmental problems. The community's way of
life is greatly impacted by the difficulties mentioned above.

Beneficiary Community
The beneficiaries of this project are the residents of Brgy. Salvacion, ages 18-50, who
want to be educated and trained about environmental education and awareness.
Project Location
This project will be conducted to all Panaboans of BRGY. Salvacion, Panabo City. This
figure shows the google map indicating the roads and landmarks to identify the location quickly.

Project Rationale/Background
A sense of crisis is growing over the advance of Global warming and climate change,
depletion of resources, chemical pollution of air and water, and loss of biodiversity. All of
humanity faces the challenge of learning to live sustainably while protecting the global
environment. In this project proposal the researchers aim to reflect its commitment across all its
business operations to help protect the global environment, we strive to develop products and
services that help reduce environmental impact, and we work to reduce the impact of our own
operations and throughout our value chain. With this project it is a practice of global
environmental management and is careful to ensure environmental compliance. We are making a
difference by helping the world reduce its carbon footprint, maximize recycling, and honor the
natural environment. Take, for instance, bearings that decrease energy loss. Through these kinds
of advancements, our products are helping to reduce environmental impact around the world.
The Young Environmental Activist is also committed to supporting the achievement of the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by reducing the environmental impact of its business
operations to zero.
This insight has brought about profound changes in the goals, priorities, and processes
of both science and government. The problem are the children in our immediate area do not have
adequate knowledge about how to cultivate and take care of all the plants, trees and garbage’s
that are around. Learning the right procedure and method for planting trees and recycling things
is one of the goals of this project. The value of Planting/Recycling in the natural world will also
be taught to them in this way. Additionally, most of the trees in our region were planted by their
parents, who were also residents when they were younger. The tree they planned to plant will
now bear their name as a lasting tribute. They may keep track of it as it develops till it blooms,
which will provide them peace of mind as they work on it as well as happiness and fulfillment
later.
Goals & objectives
The project aims to help to provide every person with opportunities to acquire the
knowledge, values, attitudes, commitment, and skills needed to protect and improve the
environment; To create new patterns of behavior of individuals, groups, and society towards the
environment. Humans only have one option for planets to live on; we need to offer the proper
respect and care for Earth as we do for ourselves. Not only can environmental protections
provide us with a better life by preserving finite resources but also the children and future
generations. Without the proper reverence for the Earth, we may run out of necessary natural
sources that afford us the comforts of life to which we’ve become accustomed. Additionally,
environmental protections save lives by reducing world hunger, global warming, natural
disasters, polluted water and soil, and pesticides.

OBJECTIVES:

 to conserve natural resources and;

 the existing natural environment and, where possible, to repair damage and reverse
trends.

GOALS:

 To improve the conservation of biodiversity through educational, scientific management

and training programme;

 To improve the quality of life of the local community through management and
conservation of natural resources;

 To ensure that the natural environment is used wisely and continues to be available for
the benefit and enjoyment of future generations;

 To decrease vulnerability and improve adaptation capacity among poor local

communities associated with climate change.
Targets & Activities:
The University of Mindanao would contribute up to P350,000 to this project. The organization
would invite a climate justice, biodiversity conservation, and natural resource conflict
management activist like Rodne Rodio Galicha to speak to the youth about how to maintain a
healthy life and environment as well as topics like youth empowerment, environmental
sustainability, climate change, human rights, and ecology. The "8R" method of sustainable living
—reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, refuse, rethink, rainforest, and recollect—is promoted by
Galicha to encourage people to participate in activities essential for environmental protection.
Furthermore, the objective is to add more and more people at all levels of the decision-making
process with the aim of resolving environmental issues. Break-out sessions, interactive learning
through games, and an audience-speaker question-and-answer session are just a few of the things
that can be done during the seminar. In this way, the audience would be able to learn the lessons
presented by the speakers and implement them in their respective Community/Area.

ACTIVITIES:

- Routine Clean-Ups (Plan a regular

clean-up day at a local park or river to maintain a clean and secure environment.)

- Plant a tree. (Trees provide food and

oxygen. They help save energy, clean the air, and help combat climate change.)

- Reduce, reuse, and recycle. (Cut down

on what you throw away. Follow the three "“R” s" to conserve natural resources and landfill
space)

COST AND BENEFIT ANALYSIS

COST
The proposal writers provided cost, which were divided into implementation costs,
program costs, and Break-out sessions costs. Total costs were calculated. First, implementation
and program costs were summed to estimate the first-day Breakout sessions costs. Second,
another estimate was calculated by adding Break-out sessions cost, assuming a 2-3 days’ time
frame. For each proposal, the individual who developed the concept also provided cost. These
estimates were decomposed into the following cost elements: Implementation Costs. These are
the costs required to develop the Training Program for community of the residents of Brgy.
Salvacion. The planning, organizing, leading, staffing and controlling of the proposed conducted
training. Program Cost. These are the costs in implementing the Training Program which are
composed of Direct Cost and Facilities and Administrative Cost. Break-out sessions Cost. These
are the costs related in the training/workshop conducted such as reference materials and
guidelines, training reference materials for the aid of the trainer and materials to be used in
demonstration and simulation.

BENEFIT
A projected Training help the community to comprehensive change and motivates the
community to take part in projects and to further their knowledge as well. By attending training
courses in community development, a person can gather knowledge on how to help their
communities. The training programs being conducted are practice of global environmental
management and is careful to ensure environmental compliance. Also, with this project it is a
practice of global environmental management and is careful to ensure environmental
compliance. This project is important for several reasons: Environmental benefits Eco bricks
help reduce plastic waste by using it as a building material instead of sending it to landfills or
polluting the environment. This helps to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in
communities and other natural environments, which can be harmful to wildlife and ecosystems.
Sustainable building, Eco bricks provide an alternative to traditional building materials, which
are often resource-intensive and have a significant impact on the environment. By using eco
bricks, builders can reduce the environmental impact of construction projects and promote
sustainability. Community engagement, Eco bricks can be made by individuals and communities
as a way to get involved in environmental stewardship and promote sustainability. This can help
build a sense of community and promote environmental awareness and education. Versatility,
Eco bricks can be used in a variety of construction projects, from building walls and benches to
creating raised garden beds and other structures. They are lightweight, durable, and easy to work
with, making them a versatile building material.

Conclusion
This report describes a framework for conducting research in a way that will
help alleviate the problems of the moment while providing a basis for solving
tomorrow's problems. In the past, pressing environmental issues have been
addressed primarily through focused research efforts directed toward solving
particular problems. Although this approach to environmental research can be
effective, has often been necessary, and will surely continue, it also has limitations.
To address the abundance of established, emerging, and as-yet-unknown
environmental issues, an expanded understanding of the scientific principles
underlying environmental systems is needed. Achieving this understanding will
require innovative, interdisciplinary approaches.

In summary, the program initiated by the young environmental activist aims

and objectives are clear impart knowledge, develop attitude, skills, and a sense of
responsibility that enables individuals to take necessary actions towards preserving
nature and all its components. It aims to develop the aptitude necessary for
responsible behaviors towards the environment from the early days of an
individual’s life.
