terms.

28. A train covers a certain distance at a uniform speed. If the train had been 6 kmph faster, it
would have taken 4 hours less than the scheduled time. If the train was slower by 6 kmph, it
would have taken 6 hours more than the scheduled time. Find the length of the journey.

travel towards each other, they meet in 1 hour. Find the speed of each car.

34. In what ratio does the line x – y – 2 = 0 divide the line segment joining the points A (3, – 1)
and B (8, 9) ? Also, find the coordinates of the point of division.

35. If the ratio of the sum of the first ‘n’ terms of two different APs is (7n + 1) : (4n + 27), then,
find the ratio of their 9th terms.

36. A football coach felt that the game of football can be better understood if the positions of the
players are represented as points on the coordinate plane.

a) At an instance, the midfielders and the forward formed a parallelogram. Find the position
of the Central midfielder (D) if the positions of the other players who formed the
parallelogram are A (1, 2), B (4, 3) and C (6, 6).

b) Check if the Goalkeeper G (– 3, 5), Sweeper H (3, 1) and Wing-back K (0, 3) fall on a
same straight line.

c) If Defensive midfielder A (1, 4), Attacking midfielder B (2, – 3) and Striker E (a, b) lie on
the same straight line, and B is equidistant from A and E, then find the position of E.

37. India is a competitive manufacturing location due to the low cost of manpower and strong
technical and engineering capabilities contributing to higher quality production runs. The
production of TV sets in a factory increases uniformly by a fixed number every year. It
produced 16000 sets in the 6th year and 22600 sets in the 9th year.

38. In a museum, a statue stands atop a pedestal. From a point on the ground where a tourist is
clicking photographs of the statue, the angle of elevation of the top of the statue is 600. From
the same point on the ground, the angle of elevation of the top of the pedestal is 45 0. Draw a
schematic diagram to illustrate this given data, and answer the questions that follow :

a) If the height of the pedestal is 20 m, then find the distance between the tourist and the foot
of the pedestal.

b) If the height of the pedestal is 20 m, then what is the height of the statue ?

c) If the height of the statue is 1.6 m, then what is the height of the pedestal ?
