Very Good!

We see different animals in our lives. Do you know

they get their food to survive?

I would like to ask you a question, what was your last

discussion all about? ( The student will stand and
answer the question)

Our discussion is all about, the

Now, do you already know what will be our topic for

today?

Okay class very good.

Our discussion for today is all about The food and

food andeEnergy in the

We are going to focus on the "Classification of
Organisms based on the food they eat"

Abstraction Who can give me the idea what is the meaning of

Students: Organisms are the
organisms?
living things.

Very good class!

Now, I'm going to present the slides for you to really

understand our topic.

The first is organisms may be producers, consumers,

or decomposers
• These terms indicate how an organism obtains
energy and how it interacts with the other living
things in its community.

Producers

• Means that they make their own food

• Able to use a source of energy (sunlight) to turn

simple raw materials (such as water and carbon
dioxide) into food (like the sugar glucose).

Producers are the source of all the food in an

ecosystem.

Who can give an example of producers?

Consumers

• Organisms that cannot make their own food depend

on producers for food and energy.

• An organism that feeds directly or indirectly on

producers is called a consumer.

Herbivores: eat only plants, such as rabbits

Carnivores: eat only meat, such as wolves

Omnivores: eat both plants and animals, such as

humans

Scavengers: an animal that feeds on the bodies of

dead animals, such as jackals, hyenas, and vultures

Decomposers

After living things die, organisms called decomposers

use the dead matter as food. Decomposers break down
dead organisms into simpler substances.

Examples: Molds, mushrooms, and many kinds of

bacteria are examples of decomposers

Now, class did you already understand the topic?

Direction: Get 1 pieace of paper and answer the
following questions.

1. What organisms that make their own food?

Expected answer:

• Producers
2. What organisms that eat other organisms?
• Consumers
Application
3. What animals that eat only plants?
• Herbivores
4. What animals that eart both plants and animals?
• Carnivores
5. What animals that eat dead animals?
• Scavengers

Again, what is our topic today?

Good. Student: Food and Energy in the

Environment
What are the different roles organisms play in an
ecosystem based on their food they eat and how they
E. Generalization obtain energy.

Very good! Let's give everyone firework claps.

The pupils will do the
fireworks claps.

IV. Evaluation

Instruction: Identify the animals below according to the food they eat.

1. Bee 6. Vultures

2. Crab 7. Hawks

3. Dugong 8. Owl

4. Philippine deer 9. Dogs

5. Tamaraw 10. Tigers

V. Assignment
Instruction: Define the following terms and provide at least two examples for each.

Herbivore Carnivore Omnivore Detritivore

Decomposer Producer Consumer Scavenger
