1. Fuselage
Chetak helicopter utilizes the semi-monocoque design,
where outer skin bears the significant amount of load
supported by an internal framework of longerons, stringers,
bulkhead and frames.
2. Stringers
It runs longitudinally along the length of the fuselage
attached to the inner surface of the skin and placed
between the bulkheads and frames. It helps to provide Fig: Fuselage
additional strength and stiffness to the fuselage skin
which prevents buckling. The number of stringers can
vary but approximately it contains 10-20 stringers running
along the length of the fuselage.
3. Longerons
It is the primary structural member that run the length
of the fuselage positioned at the top, bottoms and sides
of the fuselage. It provides main structural support for
the fuselage and provides connecting keys for other
components. It also helps in distributing concentrated loads
from other components, across the structure. There are Fig: Frames, Stringers, Longerons
typically 4 to 8 longerons placed to ensure structural integrity.
4. Bulkhead
It is the transverse structural element that divides the
fuselage into tail section and provides support for the
attachment points for other components. It helps to maintain
the aerodynamic cross section of the fuselage thus provides
structural integrity. It has major 4 to 6 major bulkheads
separating engine compartment from the cabin.
5. Frames
It is similar to the bulkheads. It provides additional transverse
support and helps to maintain the shape of the fuselage. It

works in conjunction with the stringers and longerons. There
are 12 to 14 frames present on helicopter.
