This paper consists of three questions. Answer all questions. Marks are given in brackets [ ] at
the end of each question.

You are advised to spend the first 10 minutes carefully reading through the whole paper before
answering any questions. Spend at least 40 minutes on each question. All writing must be in blue
or black ink except for diagrams which must be drawn in pencil.

1. You are required to determine the composition of feedstuff samples labelled AB1, AB2an

Step one
*Place 10ml of AB1, AB2 and AB3 solution) in each test tube and label A, B and C
respectively
* Use a pipette to draw AB4( Sodium hydroxide) solution to each tube, Adf 3 drops

2.Catalase occurs in animal tissues. You are required to investigate the effec of pH on the rate of
enzym catatalase
Procedure
Label the 4 test tubes AX1, AX2, AX3 and AX4 respectively.
Add the following to the labelled test tubes
Tube Substance to be added
AX1 2ml of hydrogen +2ml pH buffer3
AX2 2ml of hydrogen peroxide +2ml pH buffer 4
AX3 2ml of hydrogen peroxide +2ml buffer 7
AX4 2ml of hydrogen peroxide +2ml pH buffer9
Add 1ml of catalase enzyme to each of the test tubes. Gently agitate the test tube immediately.
Allow the contents to settle for 5 minutes.
Measure the volume of foam produced in each test tube.
Record results of the experiment on the table below
