Q.2. You are provided with specimens labeled K and Q which were obtained from different
living organisms.

a) Examine specimen K carefully.

i) Name the agent of pollination of specimen K. (1 mark)

ii) How is the specimen adapted to its agent of pollination? (3 marks)

iii) Using mounting needle, place the specimen K on the white tile and carefully remove the
female part of the flower and make a well labeled drawing of the female part. (3 marks)

b. Make a transverse section of the specimen labeled Q.

i) Draw and label the section. (5 marks)

ii) With a reason, what type of fruit is specimen Q? (2 marks)

Q.3. You are provided with specimen X push a cork borer through specimen X to remove
6 cylinders of potato tissue. Cut off one end of each cylinder. From the cut end measure
40 mm length and cut the cylinder of the extra length.

a) Record their lengths and the average length in the table below: - (1 mark)

Place three cylinders in the solution labeled S1. Place the other three in the solution
labeled S2. Allow the pieces to remain in the solutions for 30 minutes.

b) Remove the cylinders form the solutions, dry them with blotting paper and measure
their lengths. Record the final lengths and the averages in the table below:- (2 marks)
