ICT IN HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Introduction:
In order to improve healthcare for people and communities, ICT is essential. With the use of
ICT, doctors, hospitals, patients and hospitals can connect. Additionally, it enhances healthcare
research analysis. ICT provides easy health information access, efficient sharing of patient health
information among health service providers, and access to healthcare professionals often at a
lower cost than for direct-person care in the office.

Health and fitness tracking applications:


Fitness trackers can help users track their health by allowing them to specify what they want to
record, such as their weight, exercise, steps, distance, sleep, and heart rate. There are many
health and fitness tracking apps available, including apps that help with diet and nutrition, track
physical activity, and create workout plans.

1) Google Fit:
Google Fit provides a single set of API for apps and device manufacturers to store and access
activity data from fitness apps and sensors on Android and other devices (like wearables, heart
rate monitors or connected scales). Users can choose who their fitness data is shared with as well
as delete this information at any time. It’s hard to know how much or what kind of activity you
need to stay healthy. That’s why Google Fit collaborated with the World Health Organization
(WHO) and the American Heart Association (AHA) to bring you Heart Points, an activity goal
that can help improve your health. Activities that get your heart pumping harder have tremendous
health benefits for your heart and mind. You’ll earn one Heart Point for each minute of moderate
activity like picking up the pace when walking your dog, and double points for more intense
activities like running. It takes just 30-minutes of brisk walking five days a week to reach the
AHA and WHO’s recommended amount of physical activity shown to reduce the risk of heart
disease, improve sleep, and increase overall mental wellbeing.

2) SAMSUNG Health :
Samsung Health provides an immersive, content-forward experience that allows users to
discover and access health and wellness content from leading industry partners, all from the
comfort of your home. You can set personal goals and check your daily statistics such as calories
burned, steps, sleep, or active minutes to know where to focus. We'll help you stay on track to
achieve your goals. Samsung Health is intended for fitness and wellness purposes only and is not
intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or in the cure, mitigation,
treatment, or prevention of disease. Samsung Health protects your private health data securely
and requires all users to to set up 2-step verification process with a password and phone number.

3) Apple Health:
The Apple Health app provides a central and secure place for your health and fitness
information, so it's easily accessible and under your control. You can also receive notifications for
new trends in your health data or for other features such as Cycle Tracking or Mental Wellbeing. If
you're on your iPhone, tap the Summary tab, then tap your profile picture in the upper-right corner.
If you're on your iPad, tap Profile in the upper-left corner. Under Features, tap Notifications and
turn on any notifications that interest you.

Telemedicine and online health consultations
Telemedicine is a way to provide healthcare services using electronic media and
telecommunication, including online health consultations. Telemedicine allows patients to have
video or phone appointments with their healthcare provider. Patients can use telemedicine
through online platforms or mobile apps. Telemedicine, which enables video or phone
appointments between a patient and their health care practitioner, benefits both health and
convenience. More health care providers are offering to “see” patients by computer and
smartphone.

Benefits of fitness tracking devices
A fitness tracker is a device that uses sensors to track your orientation, movement, and rotation.
The device collects data and converts it into steps, calories, sleep quality and general activity you
perform through the day. Some trackers even have a sensor called 'altimeter' which measures
your altitude, thereby tracking the number of flights of stairs you've climbed. A fitness tracker
can easily figure whether you are running or spinning. The alarm in the tracker reminds you
about a range of things such as- completing the number of steps, drinking enough water,
standing, walking, sleeping on the right time and much more.
The device offers solutions to individuals interested in working toward specific health and fitness
goals. Here are a few uses and benefits of using a fitness tracker-
