Topic Part 1 Mới

1. Coins
1. Do you often carry coins with you?
No, my country doesn’t use coins anymore. So using mobile payments being all
the rage, it’s much easier to just use my phone for everything. Carrying coins feels
like a hassle, especially since they can weigh down my purse.

2. Have you ever collected coins?

Answer 1: Yes, I used to collect coins as a hobby when I was younger. I was fascinated by
different designs and currencies, especially foreign coins.

Answer 2: No, I’ve never collected coins because I never found it particularly interesting. I
prefer spending coins rather than keeping them.

3. Do you think it’s convenient to use coins?

Answer 1: Like I said, coin is outdated, most people prefer mobile payments. Carrying and
counting coins can be a hassle, especially when you need to make exact changes.

Answer 2: Well, for countries still using this currency, I’d say coins can be quite convenient
for small purchases, like buying drinks from vending machines or paying for bus fares.
They’re easy to use when the transaction amount is small.

4. Did you use coins as a child?

Answer: Definitely. When I was little, coins were a significant part of my daily life, especially
when it came to buying small items like candies, snacks, or toys from the local store. I
remember having a small piggy bank where I would save my coins, and it was always
exciting to hear the jingle of coins as I shook it.

1. Describe a prize you have received (eg a medal)

You should say:
What it was
when you received it
what you did to receive it
And explain how you felt about it

I’m not a big competition taker, so I’ve not won that many rewards my entire life. But for
any that I've taken part in, I always put all my heart and soul into it and cherish every single
reward I’m given. One of such prizes is an antiquarian copy of the book “Gone with the
wind” I won in an online book review competition last year.

The reason I participated in the event was because I have a love for old books. As
someone who is a bit old-school and nostalgic, I’ve always wanted to have a collection of
rare copies of used books. Yet, antique book collecting seems to be quite a bit of a pricey
hobby, so I just now and then seek opportunities to earn a give-away, for example, by
taking part in a competition.

The book I won is simply something I’ve always desired for. It was still in a very good
condition for its age when I opened the parcel and got the book out. It has a dark navy
cloth-bound cover, wrapped in a dust jacket in Victorian inspired style. The board and spine
titles are gold foil stamped, and the binding stays intact despite some edge wear and spine
chip.

According to the competition organizer’s claim, this copy was printed in a limited number of
100 copies only. That means it's worth quite a considerable value, and I just felt in sheer
bliss for becoming one of the 100 owners of the edition.

Part 3
1. Do you think competition is all about the prize?
2. What prizes should schools set for students?
3. What criteria should be sent for students to win a particular prize?
4. Why do many companies often give prizes to their customers?

How you knew he/she

What does he/she read
And explain why you think he/she likes to read a lot

Answer 1:
One of the most bookish people I know is my friend Linh. I first met her in high school, and
I still remember it clearly-she was sitting in a corner of the library, completely lost in a thick
novel, oblivious to the chaos of students around her. It was like the world outside didn't
exist for her. What really caught my attention wasn't just the fact that she was reading, but
*what* She was reading. It was some deep philosophy book, something I wouldn't even
think to pick up at that age!

Over the years, I' ve seen her devour all sorts of books. From fiction to nonfiction, she's
never limited herself to one genre. One week she is engrossed in Vietnamese history, and
the next, she's diving into a psychological thriller. What is fascinating is that it's never just
about the act of reading for Wei. Every time she finishes a book, she seems to emerge with
new insights or questions. She' I talk about the characters like they're old friends or
challenge me with a philosophical debate she picked up from her latest

What I think drives her love for reading is her endless curiosity. Wei reads not just to
escape, but to understand the world better. Books are her window to new cultures, ideas,
and perspectives, and every time she turns a page, she is expanding her view of the world.
I honestly believe it's her way of staying grounded while constantly learning something
new.

It's inspiring to see how deeply she connects with every story, every idea.

And explain why that person is good at making things by hand

Answer 1:
The person I would like to describe is my father. He has a passion for woodworking and
spends his free time making various pieces of furniture. Over the years, he has crafted
many unique tables and cabinets, each with its own distinct design.

My father enjoys making things by hand because it allows him to express his creativity
and attention to detail. He finds great satisfaction in transforming raw materials into
beautiful and functional items. It's his way of unwinding and doing something
productive at the same time. He often says that working with his hands helps him clear his
mind and feel a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, he loves the challenge of
creating something from scratch and seeing the final product come to life.

I have a lot of admiration for my father and his dedication to his craft. Watching him work
so diligently has taught me the value of patience and hard work. His creations are not just
pieces of furniture; they are works of art that reflect his skill and passion. I feel proud to
have such a talented and hardworking person in my life. His love for woodworking has also

Answer 1:

I’m really into learning cooking on the Internet. There is a website called the Expert of Cate
with thousands of videos about cooking, which is very popular teaching visitors how to cook
simple but tasty food. Each lesson is produced in video with up-to-date culinary tips and
advice, along with the tasty recipes. I believe it appeals to anyone who love life and food

There is a woman hostess in the video whose sound is really kindly. She looks like a patient

food, and teaching you how to cook it yourself step by step as well.

I always get access to the website to learn some new food during the weekends, especially
before starting preparing the dinner at night. I only spend no more than five minutes to learn
a new recipe, sitting in front of my computer and taking some notes from time to time.

Thanks to this website, I can cook something for my family now. Although I can’t cook very
well, I will acquire a sense of achievement when someone enjoys my dishes. Besides, this
website helped a lot and changed me from a layman to a person who enjoys cooking. On top
of that, it may be an easy way to let off steam during the weekend after a one-week tiring
work.

Answer 2:

I watched this video about six months ago on YouTube while I was at home. I had some free
time one weekend, so I decided to browse through some educational content.

The video was a tutorial on basic photography techniques, particularly focusing on how to
use natural light to enhance the quality of photos. It was part of a photography series
created by a well-known professional photographer, who aimed to teach beginners how to
improve their skills with simple yet effective tips.

I watched it because I had recently developed an interest in photography and wanted to learn
more about how to take better pictures. I was particularly intrigued by the idea of using
natural light because I had always found it challenging to get the right lighting in my photos.

From this video, I learned a lot about how to position my subject in relation to the light
source, how to avoid harsh shadows, and how to create a soft, diffused light effect that
makes the photos look more professional. The tutorial was very practical and easy to follow,
and I could immediately apply what I learned to my photography. It significantly improved the
quality of my photos, and I felt more confident in my ability to capture beautiful images
without needing expensive equipment.

The person I would like to describe is my. friend, Alex. I met Alex during my college years,
and from the very beginning, it was clear that he was someone who had a lot to say about
almost everything. He's a person full of energy, always ready to jump into a discussion with
his well-thought-out opinions.

Alex is mature beyond his years, likely. because of his wide range of life experiences.
He has traveled to many countries, worked in different industries, and faced various
challenges. These experiences have given him a unique perspective on life, and he's not
shy. about sharing his views. Whether it's politics,. technology, or social issues, Alex
always has a strong opinion. He's the type of person who can argue his point with passion,
often backing up his thoughts with facts and examples.

I admire Alex's ability to express his thoughts so clearly and confidently. However,. his
strong opinions can sometimes be overwhelming. There are times when he becomes too
stubborn and isn't willing to consider other viewpoints. Despite this, I respect his passion
and conviction. It's refreshing to see someone who stands firm in their beliefs and isn't

4. Do you think parents should teach their children not to behave badly in public

Something interesting happened to me last week when I was in a classroom. I was sitting
there, waiting for a lesson to start, and suddenly my phone rang. It was an unknown
number, but out of curiosity, I decided to pick it up. To my surprise, it was a salesperson
from an education center.

The person on the other end started talking about different tutoring programs for children,
focusing on subjects like math, Vietnamese, and English. He was quite enthusiastic,
explaining how the programs could help improve academic performance and prepare
students for exams. After listening for a moment, I politely interrupted and said, "I think
you've made a mistake. My child hasn't been born yet, so your call is a bit too early by a
few years, actually."

The salesperson was silent for a second, probably feeling a bit embarrassed, and then
apologized before quickly ending the call.

After I hung up, I couldn't help but laugh a little at the situation. But at the same time, it
made me feel a bit uneasy because it reminded me how much personal information is out
there, even when it shouldn't be. It's worrying that someone got my number and assumed I
had a child.

businessman and has a wealth of experience in various areas from finance to personal
relationships. I've seen many of our family members, friends, and even neighbors turn to
him when they're facing a difficult situation

I remember a time when I personally asked for his advice. It was when I was trying to
decide on my major for university. I was torn between choosing something I was
passionate about, like literature. and something more practical, like business. I knew that
my uncle, with his extensive experience in the business world, would have some valuable
insights.

When I asked him for advice, he didn't just give me a straightforward answer. Instead, he
encouraged me to think about my long-term goals and how my choice would affect my
future. He suggested that I should consider combining my passion with something more
practical, perhaps by studying business but also taking courses in literature as electives.
His advice was very balanced and helped me see that I didn't have to choose one over the
other; I could find a way to pursue both
I felt really reassured after talking to him. His advice helped me gain clarity and confidence
in my decision-making process. I ended up following his suggestion, and I'm glad I did
because it allowed me to explore both my interests and build a solid foundation for my
career What I appreciated most about his advice was that he didn't try to push me in any
specific direction but instead guided me to make a choice that was right for me.

When you went there

Who you went there with

Why you went there

And explain how you felt about it

I would like to talk about my recent trip to Ba Den pagoda, which was an experience that I
always remember due to the massive amount of visitors that I encountered while I was there.

So usually, during Tet holiday, my family often drives to Tay Ninh province to visit my
grandfather and last year we decided to take a short trip to Ba Den pagoda on Ba Den
Mountain.

Before getting on the cable car to go up to the pagoda, I thought that maybe there might be
a lot of Buddhist worshippers up there, as this sacred place tends to attract countless visitors
all year round, let alone during Tet, which is the biggest holiday in Vietnam. And, I was right.
There were people with flowers and candles everywhere. On one corner, lines of people
were trying to light their incense sticks, and inside the pagoda many people were kneeling
and praying with their eyes closed. It was pretty hard for us to even find any room to stand.

But, in the end, we successfully managed to find a way through the crowd and got close to
the worshiping place, however my grandfather stayed outside as he can’t stand all the
smoke and lack of oxygen.

Although I understand that most Vietnamese people enjoy going to pagodas and temples
during these special days of the year to wish for good luck, and well-being and happiness, I
really don’t think I’ll do that again anytime soon.

13. Describe a movie you watched recently

You should say:
When and where you watched it
Who you watched it with
What it was about
and explain why you chose to watch this movie

Answer:
I recently caught Disney's live-action take on The Little Mermaid, and I've got to say, it
didn't quite live up to my expectations. Despite the anticipation due to its classic status, it
left me feeling a bit let down.

Now, the storyline, centered around a young mermaid's yearning to explore the human
world and her love story with a prince, is a timeless tale of romance and self-discovery.
I decided to give it a watch, fueled by my fond memories of the animated version from my
childhood and a curiosity about how they'd bring it to life with real actors and impressive
effects.

However, here's where it missed the mark for me.

Firstly, the acting was just okay. The cast didn't quite capture the charm of the animated
characters, making it challenging to connect with them emotionally. Secondly, the visual
effects fell short of replicating the enchantment of the underwater scenes in the animated
classic.

Most notably, and in agreement with many viewers, the casting of the Little Mermaid
herself turned out to be a significant letdown. It completely reversed the way people had
envisioned the original character.

If there was any letdown at the box office, a considerable portion could be attributed to this
casting choice

My ideal home would be a spacious house in a peaceful suburban area, surrounded by

I envision the house having a modern design with large windows that let in plenty of natural

creating a welcoming space for family and friends. I can picture cozy evenings by a fireplace
and a beautiful backyard where I can grow flowers and vegetables.

Some special features I’d want include a comfortable home office for working, a cozy

Answer:

I remember the first time I visited my friend Anna' s apartment; it was a rainy Saturday
afternoon, and she invited me over for coffee. As soon as I stepped in, I was struck by how
warm and inviting her place felt.

But it was her study that completely drew me in. It's a cozy little nook, tucked away at the
back of her apartment, almost like a secret hide out.

The room has a large window that overlooks a quiet street lined with trees. On that rainy
day, the sound of raindrops tapping against the glass added this soothing rhythm to the
space. The walls are filled with shelves crammed with books of all kinds-novels, art
collections, travel guides-you name it. There's A big wooden desk right by the window, with
a small lamp and a few sketchbooks scattered around, showing that this is where she gets
her creative juices flowing.

What really makes this room special is how it feels so lived-in and personal. Anna' s got
little mementos on the shelves-souvenirs from her travels, a small framed photo of us from
college, and tiny plants that add a touch of green. It's a room that tells a story. Every time I
sit in the armchair tucked in the corner, with its soft cushions and cozy blanket, I feel like l'
m in a different world -a quieter, more thoughtful place.

I think what I Love most about her study is that it's not just a room; it's an experience. It's
the kind of space that makes you want to curl up with a book, lose track of time, and let
your mind wander. Being in that room always feels like a little escape from the busy pace
of everyday life, and its a place I always look forward to returning to.

Last summer, my family and I visited Taman Safari Vietnam. I had heard it was impressive
and famous for its diverse animal species, but nothing prepared me for the day we had. We
arrived early, full of excitement, and found the park buzzing with families.

We hopped on a safari bus that took us through different sections. Initially, we saw deer and
monkeys, which were enjoyable, but everything changed when we entered the tiger
enclosure. There were two magnificent tigers lounging in the shade. Their striking coats and
piercing eyes gave me goosebumps. It was a surreal moment, and I could see the same
awe on their faces.

What made the experience truly special was sharing it with my family. We wandered through
the park, spotting everything from elephants to exotic birds, but I couldn’t shake the image of
those tigers. Their graceful yet powerful movements left a lasting impression on me.

As we left the park that evening, I felt grateful. Taman Safari isn’t just about showcasing
animals; it’s also about conservation and raising awareness for endangered species. That
day, I developed a deeper appreciation for wildlife and the importance of protecting these
incredible creatures.

most of us were panicking, Anna was the one who calmly cleaned the wound and made
him feel better. That was the first time I realized she had a special gift.

After high school, while many of us were trying to figure out our career paths, Anna was
already determined to study medicine. Her decision was largely influenced by her
grandfather, who suffered from a chronic illness. She often accompanied him to the
hospital and noticed how the doctors' care and professionalism made a huge difference in
his quality of life. This inspired her to pursue a career where she could offer the same kind
of support to others.

Now, Anna works in a big hospital in Sydney as a pediatrician and I often hear her talk
about the joys and challenges of her job. She spends her days treating young patients,
comforting worried parents, and often staying late to ensure every child gets the best care.
Despite the pressure, she never loses her smile and always tries to lighten up the mood
with a joke or a kind word.

I really admire Anna, not just for her skills but for her heart. She’s not in it for the prestige

It was just a regular day, and I decided to go out for a coffee with a friend. We chose this
cozy little café downtown, you know, one of those spots with great pastries and a relaxed
vibe. Anyway, after a couple of hours of chatting and catching up, we decided to head
home. I reached into my bag to grab my wallet to pay, and that’s when I realized—it wasn’t
there.

Initially, I felt that rush of panic, my heart racing and all. I mean, my wallet had everything:
my ID, credit cards, and even some sentimental items like a photo of my family. So, my
friend covered the bill, and we started retracing our steps. We went all the way back to
every shop we visited, asking around, looking under shelves—you name it.

Despite everything, I had no luck initially and had to cancel my cards and replace my IDs.
However, there was a twist—the next day, the café called to say someone found my wallet

A challenge I faced that was quite difficult for me was preparing for the IELTS exam. This
was in 2023, and I spent several months studying at home and taking preparation classes.

The challenge came from a few different angles. First, the exam has four sections: listening,
reading, writing, and speaking. I found the writing section especially tough because I had to
express my thoughts clearly and quickly within a limited time. On top of that, the pressure to
achieve a high score was daunting since it was crucial for my plans to study abroad.

During that time, I felt a mix of stress and determination. There were definitely days when I
felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of material I needed to cover. But at the same time, I
was motivated because I knew how important this exam was for my future. I created a study
schedule, practiced regularly, and even sought feedback from teachers, which really helped.

Spending time with my great-grandfather was always a pleasure; I learned so much from

She was feeling quite overwhelmed with the amount of material she had to cover and was
struggling to manage her time effectively. Since I had recently gone through a similar

The date was set for a Saturday evening at the cinema to watch a movie we were both
excited about. Alex is someone I really admired; he has a great sense of humor and a
passion for filmmaking, which makes our conversations lively and engaging. I had been
looking forward to the date for weeks. However, as I was riding my motorbike, I got caught in
unexpected traffic that significantly delayed me. When I finally checked the time, I realized I
was running late.

I rushed to the cinema, but by the time I arrived, I was about 20 minutes late. When I walked
in, I spotted Alex waiting in the lobby, looking a bit anxious and disappointed. I felt a wave of
embarrassment and guilt for keeping him waiting.

When I finally joined him, I apologized profusely and explained what had happened.
Thankfully, he was understanding, but I could tell I had missed out on making a great first
impression. I felt terrible about the whole experience and was worried it might have affected
how he saw me.

Missing that movie date taught me the importance of planning ahead, especially when it
comes to potential delays like traffic. Despite the rocky start, we ended up enjoying the

interested. It was a valuable lesson in managing my time better for special occasions.
