AFFIXES
Affixes are groups of letters added to the beginning or end of a word to change its meaning. They are divided
into two main types:
Prefix: An affix added before the root word (beginning of the word).
Suffix: An affix added after the root word (end of the word).
2. Types of Affixes
a) Prefixes
Prefixes modify the meaning of the root word. They can create the opposite meaning, make something
smaller or larger, or indicate a direction, time, or manner.

dis- opposite, reverse disconnect disconnect (not connect)

b) Suffixes
Suffixes change the word's tense, form, or meaning. They often help determine the part of speech of the
word.
