Objective of the lesson: activities and applying learned words and
expressions in describing events from the
past.
Expected outcomes:
At the end of the lesson, students will be able
to communicate orally and in writing:

- name and use words related to leisure


activities

- they talk about their previous trips

- describe events from the past in several


connected statements.

Introductory part of the lesson (5 minutes)

Textbook page 92

The teacher points out the title of the lesson


and asks the students if they have ever been
on a field trip, encouraging them to use the
Past Simple Tense in their answers.

Main part of the lesson (35 minuta)


Textbook 92. page, 1 Vocabulary

The teacher first explains any unknown


words, and then the students connect the
expressions with the pictures in pairs. This is
followed by an oral check of the answers, and
the teacher then plays CD 2 (audio recording
34), so that the students repeat the words
and practice the pronunciation.

2 Read

A) The students have the task to verbally


describe the photo that accompanies the text
and to predict the content of the text. The
teacher plays CD 2 (audio recording 35), the
students listen, underline the unknown words,
which the teacher explains, and then answer
the teacher's questions related to what they
read text.

Where are the children?

Is the weather great? etc.

B) Students work in pairs and find answers to


questions related to the text and then write
them down. This is followed by an oral check
of the answers.

Several students read the text in roles.

The teacher divides the students into groups


of three students each. Students have the
task of preparing and acting out the read text.
The teacher reminds the students that they
do not need to memorize every word, but to
convey the essence of the text in their own
words and to portray the described scene with
acting and mime.

The students perform skits, the teacher


praises the students, and each group is
rewarded with applause.

Textbook 93. page, 3 Grammar

The teacher indicates the construction of the


Past Simple Tense negative tense and gives
additional explanations to the students and
examples other than those listed in the table.
Students then individually circle the correct
answer in the sentences. This is followed by
an oral check of the answers.
4 Speak

The teacher points to the questions in the


exercise and explains that the students
should ask their pair questions about his/her
vacation. One student reads the questions
and then the teacher invites the students to
walk around the classroom. At his sign Stop!
students stop and have a conversation with
the student closest to them at that moment,
using questions as in practice. The teacher
interrupts the conversation Go! and the
The final part of the lesson (5 minuta) activity is repeated several times.

5 Write

Students individually write down a few


sentences in their notebooks about their
described journey from the 4th exercise. The
teacher monitors the flow of activities and
helps when necessary. A few students read
their sentences and the teacher praises them.
Other students can ask additional questions
using the learned constructions.
