ABSTRACT

Accountancy, Business and Management strand is a K-12 based

curriculum in senior high school and choosing a strand is one of the

most difficult decisions students must make. This study’s main

objective is to know the factors that influence students to choose the

ABM strand. It is quantitative in nature with the used of descriptive

statistics and correlation analysis to determine the demographic

profile of students and factors of influence and the theory that the

researchers anchored on, was the social cognitive career theory. By

the results, the researchers found out that personal interest is the

most influential factor in the decision-making of students.

Researchers thereby recommend that students should make an

informed decision before choosing a strand. Whereas, future

researchers can conduct further studies on the other factors that

influenced students in choosing a strand.

Keywords: senior high school, choosing a strand, personal interest,

descriptive statistics, and correlational analysis, social cognitive

career theory.
