High Pressure Oxygen Supply

• Pressure
• 2.8 to 6 bar
• 280 to 600 kPa
• 41 – 87 psi
• Flowmax 120 l/min
1. Oxygen low-pressure
inlet fitting The HPO mode enables the
2. Oxygen high-pressure use of:
inlet fitting • 100% oxygen
• Pneumatic nebulizer
Low Pressure Oxygen Supply

• Pressure ≦ 6 bar /
600 kpa / 87 Psi
• Flow ≦ 15 l/min

1. Oxygen low-pressure The LPO mode disables the

inlet fitting use of:
2. Oxygen high-pressure • 100% oxygen
inlet fitting • Pneumatic nebulizer
Filter System

Oxygen Cell

• Coded oxygen cell

• Oxygen cell MUST

always be installed to
avoid leakage
Details of Function
Mixer Block Assembly

The oxygen mixer block assembly controls the

flow of oxygen into the Blower Assembly
Internal flow sensors QO2, Qvent (Sensirion)

QO2: -used to control the O2

Qvent: -used to control the O2

-used to calibrate the external flow sensor
-used for inspiration tubing compensation

Heat Exchange (Principal Function)
Inspiratory Valve
The Inspiratory valve precisely controls the volume
and pressure of the air/oxygen mixture from the
Blower assembly to the patient breathing circuit.
A. Air/O2 Mixture from Blower Assembly
B. Inspiratory Valve
C. Control Valve
D. Pressure Spring
E. Inspiratory Valve Voice Coil Assembly
F. Qvent Flow Sensor
Flow and Pressure Dosage to Patient

The I- Valve is controlled by QVent for flow

dosage or PVent_control for pressure
dosage
Safety Valve (Function 1)
During normal ventilation the safety valve is
closed. (electronically controlled)
Gas is passing through the safety valve to the
patient

A. Air/O2 mixture from inspiratory valve

B. Safety valve assembly
C. Ambient valve
D. Voice coil
E. Outlet connector to Patient Breathing
circuit
Safety Valve (Function 2)

1. In the ambient state the safety

valve is unpowered, allowing the 1. 2.
patient to inspire ambient air (if
able to do so) through the ambient
valve.

2. In the ambient state, the expiratory

valve is also unpowered enabling
gas to escape from the patient
breathing circuit.
Safety Valve (Function 3)

If the pressure from the inspiratory

valve for the patient breathing circuit is
too high, the safety valve is powered to
an open position to relieve the excess
pressure to the room.

Safety valve opens if:

Pinsp + 15mbar for more than 5s

B. Outlet from blower side (high
pressure) of the inspiratory valve to
provide rinse flow
C. Tubing to autozero valves
D. Autozero valves
E. Paw pressure sensor
F. Pflowsensor pressure sensor

Rinse Flow

The rinse flow provided by the HAMILTON-

C2/C3 changes according to the pressure at the
blower outlet.

Rinse Flow range:

Distal rinse flow: 11.5 ml/min at 35mbar blower
pressure
Proximal rinse flow: 11.5 ml/min at 35mbar
blower pressure
Difference between distal and proximal rinse
flow: ≤ 10%
Overview of Nebulizer

To nebulizer jar
Nebulizer Flow
A
A. High pressure oxygen inlet
C B. Nebulizer valve
C. Tubing from metal block to the nebulizer
front panel connection
The HAMILTON-C2/C3 provides oxygen with
sufficient pressure (high inlet only) to drive the
nebulizer jar.
B The nebulizer solenoid valve on the metal block
controls the flow of oxygen to the nebulizer jar.
Flow to nebulizer jar: 7 to 8l/min
