ACADEMIC YEAR 2023/2024 ADMISSIONS

CENTRE FOR OPEN, DISTANCE AND e-LEARNING (ODeL) PROGRAMMES

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to apply for studies, through Open,
Distance and e-Learning delivery mode leading to the award of Diplomas and Degrees in the
following Faculties:

A. FACULTY OF EDUCATION

46 Diploma in Malawi School Certificate of Education or its 3 years


Education equivalent with at least six credits including (Diploma)
(Arts)/ English (Language or Literature) and in any 3 of
Bachelor of the following subjects: Geography, History, 5 years
Education French, Bible Knowledge, Chichewa, and Social (Degree)
(Arts) and Development Studies.

47 Diploma in Malawi School Certificate of Education or its 3 years


Education equivalent with at least six credits including (diploma)
(Languages)/ English (Language or Literature) and Chichewa or
Bachelor of French, and in any 2 of the following subjects: 5 years
Education Geography, History, Bible Knowledge, Social and (degree)
(Languages) Development Studies.

48 Diploma in Malawi School Certificate of Education or its 3 years
Education equivalent with at least six credits including (Diploma)
(Science)/ English (Language or Literature), English,
Bachelor of Biology, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, 5 years
Education Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics, General (Degree)
(Science) Science and Computer Studies.

49 Bachelor of • Diploma in Education or its equivalent 2 years


Education obtained from a recognised institution of
(Arts) – higher learning with any 2 of the following
Upgrading secondary school teaching subjects:
History, Geography, Bible
• Knowledge, English, Chichewa and French,

• MSCE or its equivalent with at least six


credits including English, and

• Those with post diploma teaching


experience will have an added advantage.
50 Bachelor of
Education • Diploma in Education or its equivalent 2 years
(Languages) obtained from a recognised institution
– Upgrading of higher learning with any 2 of the
following secondary school teaching
subjects: English, Chichewa and French
and,
• MSCE or its equivalent with at least six
credits including English.
• Those with post diploma teaching
experience will have an added
advantage.

51 Bachelor of • Diploma in Education (Sciences) obtained 2 years
Education from a recognised institution of higher
(Science) – learning,
Upgrading
• Should be qualified to teach any 2 of the
following secondary school subjects:
Mathematics, Physical Science, Physics,
Chemistry and Biology,
• MSCE or its equivalent with at least six credits
including English.
• Those with post diploma teaching experience
will have an added advantage.

B. FACULTY OF TOURISM, HOSPITALITY AND MANAGEMENT

C. FACULTY OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

A. INTERPRETATION OF INTERNATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS


Qualifications comparable to O-Level/IGCSE shall be interpreted as follows for purposes of
admission: A*(90-100) = 1; A(80-89) = 2; B(70-79) = 3; C(60-69) = 5; D(55-59) and E(49-54)= 7;
F(40-48) and G(34-39) = 8; O(0-33)=9

B. TUITION FEES

Fees for all programmes is K600,000 per academic year.


NOTE: Fees is subject to revision as may be determined by Council from time to time,
with or without notice.

C. APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applications should be sent by post or delivered by hand at Mzuzu University Campus in the
Registry.

All applicants should complete a Mzuzu University 2023/2024 Admission Application Form
and attach applicable copies of the following documents:

a) Copies of their academic qualifications,


b) Previous academic record (transcripts),
c) MSCE or equivalent certificates,
d) Curriculum vitae, and
e) A copy of the application fee bank deposit slip

Application forms can be obtained from the Porters Lodge or Registry at Mzuzu
University Campus or ODL Satellite Centres in Karonga, Lilongwe, Balaka and Mulanje or
downloaded from the website www.mzuni.ac.mw
Completed applications should be returned with a non-refundable admission application fee of
K15,000 for Malawian applicants and US$ 150 for international applicants. Applications
submitted without the admission application fee will be disqualified.

The application fee should be deposited into the following bank account:
