I.Community Profile Observation

A. Common Observable Problems in your Target Venue

The common observable problem in our target venue was grade one non-
readers in section one- Mahogany in Sta. Cruz Elementary School in this Volunteer
work as future educators we can help the students with reading problems.

B. Exact Place/Venue Background, Narration

A reading program for first-graders in Sta.Cruz Elementary School who are not yet
proficient readers is an important educational project designed to give young kids the
foundational abilities needed to become proficient readers. This curriculum
acknowledges that not all students enter grade 1 with the ability to read, and it works
to close this gap by providing them with structured, interesting education that is
adapted to their needs.

Some first-graders in Sta.Cruz Elementary School might not have received the
exposure or help they needed to improve their reading abilities early in their academic
careers.
This may be caused by a number of things, such as different home situations, prior
school experiences, or personal learning preferences. The significance of adopting
specialized reading programs for these non-readers has been acknowledged by
educators and schools as a way to guarantee that all kids have an equal chance to
achieve.

The program focuses on early literacy development, focusing on essential pre-

reading skills like phonemic awareness, letter recognition, and basic vocabulary. It
offers individualized instruction to cater to each student's unique needs, providing

support and guidance for struggling readers. The program aims to boost confidence in
non-readers, making reading enjoyable and achievable. The ultimate goal is to prepare
grade 1 non-readers of Sta.Cruz Elementary School to meet grade-level reading
expectations, including decoding words, understanding basic sentence structures, and
comprehending age-appropriate texts. This approach ensures that struggling readers
receive the necessary support and guidance.Proficiency in reading is often considered
a predictor of overall academic success. This program sets the stage for a student's
future learning by giving them the tools they need to access information and engage
with various subjects.

In summary, a reading program for first grader non-readers serves as a crucial

intervention to ensure that all students in Sta.Cruz Elementary School have a solid
foundation in literacy, regardless of their initial reading abilities. It empowers young
learners to become confident and capable readers, setting them on a path to academic
achievement and lifelong learning.

C. Possible Outreach Activity to Conduct

A proactive approach to help grade 1 non-readers in Sta. Cruz Elementary School's

literacy journey, including collaboration with teachers, literacy specialists, parents,
interactive workshops, older students or peer mentors, and community resources like
libraries, literacy organizations, or volunteers.
Periodically assessing the progress of non-readers helps refine outreach activities and
adjust strategies based on individual needs.

A multisensory approach using visuals, audio, and hands-on materials is used to

make learning engaging and effective. Celebrating milestones and reading
achievements with non-readers and offering small rewards motivates them to
continue their reading journey.

Instilling a love for reading by exposing non-readers to a variety of books and

materials creates an environment where reading is
seen as an enjoyable and rewarding activity. Remembering that every child is unique,
progress may vary from one student to another. By implementing a holistic and
supportive outreach program, grade 1 non-readers can develop essential reading skills
and become confident readers.

D. Tentative Date

The program aims to provide specialized support and resources to help Grade 1 non-
readers develop essential reading skills.
We have tentatively set a date for the Reading Program for Grade 1 Non-Readers on

A community effort called "Reading Program for Grade 1 Non-Readers" aims to help
struggling readers in Grade 1 by enhancing their literacy abilities. This program aims to
give students who need it most the specialized attention they require by
acknowledging the crucial role that early reading plays in a child's educational
development. This project aims to empower young learners and put them on a path to

unique reading programs for each non-reader. These strategies will concentrate on
each student's particular growth areas.
3. Weekly Reading Sessions: Arrange for pupils to work one-on-one with trained
volunteers during weekly reading sessions. Students will take part in reading drills,
interactive storytelling, and reading comprehension exercises throughout these
sessions.
4. Reading seminars: Hold seminars for parents and educators to inform them of
the value of early literacy and to give them tips on how to promote their kids' reading
development at home and in school.

II. Introduction, Background and Purpose

In the world of education, we recognize that every child's journey to literacy is unique
and filled with its own set of challenges and triumphs. We extend a warm and heartfelt
welcome to those dear students who find themselves at the beginning of their reading
adventure. With unwavering dedication, we are here to guide, support, and empower
these young minds on their path to becoming confident and capable readers.
The ability to read is not only a fundamental skill; it is the key that unlocks a
treasure trove of knowledge, imagination, and communication. For some, this journey
may begin with uncertainty or hesitation, but we firmly believe that every child
possesses the potential to become a proficient reader. Our program is designed with
the understanding that learning to read is a gradual process, and it requires patience,
compassion, and individualized attention.
We understand that each non-reader is a unique puzzle, and our program aims to
piece together the path that best suits their learning style and pace. We will celebrate
every small victory, no matter how humble, and encourage each child to embrace the
joy of discovering stories, words, and the world around them.
Together, let's inspire a love for reading, nurture confidence, and pave the way
for a future where these grade 1 children are not just readers but avid explorers of the
written word.
The background for developing a reading program for grade 1 non-readers is the
recognition that literacy is a fundamental skill and that early intervention in grade 1 is
crucial to address diverse learning needs, prevent future challenges, and promote
educational equity by closing achievement gaps among students with varying levels of
readiness.

The purpose of creating a reading program for grade 1 non-readers is to provide

early intervention, close achievement gaps, and equip students with foundational
literacy skills, fostering their confidence and future academic success while involving
parents and educators in a holistic, culturally sensitive, and sustainable approach.
