NARRATIVE REPORT ON READING INTERVENTION

“GURO KO KAAGAAPAY KO SA PAGBASA GAMIT ANG TEKNOLOHIYA”

A READING INTERVENTION OF GRADE FIVE TEACHERS OF SAN RAFAEL VILLAGE
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Technology plays an increasingly important role in educational practice, including interventions for
struggling learners. The use of technology can aid in the development of fluency in reading and help our
Grade Five Pupils to expand vocabulary, allowing pupils to understand the meaning of words. Reading
comprehension benefits from technology in the classroom as pupils challenged to find meaning in what
they have read. The use of educational technology in teaching reading keep our pupils motivated. This is
because nowadays pupils usually feel more comfortable using digital devices when learning language,
mainly due to tools such as video presentation and interactive multimedia exercises.

Based on the result of our School Reading Assessment which include Phil-IRI Test , we decided to
incorporate technology in teaching reading and come up with our reading intervention “GURO KO
KAAGAAPAY KO SA PAGBASA GAMIT ANG TEKNOLOHIYA “which aims to bridge the gap of
literacy among our pupils, develop love for reading the key to unlock the door of lifelong learning, to
activate and reinforce the writing, grammar , vocabulary and punctuation skills of the pupils, and more
importantly to help improve their reading comprehension that will challenged them to find meaning in
what they have read and used in socializing with others.

The knowledge, learning or insights, the experiences and learning we got is truly remarkable. From
these gestures, we the Grade Five Team / Teachers experience how to handle and adjust different
personalities, characters, the comprehension level of our pupils, we could say that in dealing children we
should be fair enough and have more patient for the slow learners. Through these experiences we have
develop interest, loyalty, and perseverance to teach our pupil to read to eradicate non-readers in class.
From all the experiences derived through teaching reading, we can conclude that these experiences
played a great help to the reading teachers both personal and social development in teaching.
To have fair treatment with pupils, one can develop a whole some personality and strength the good
relationship being established with them. By using visual aid or audio visual and also using the reading
center with the Reading Instructional devices, the presentation of the lessons the pupil’s attention can be
easily caught and deliver the lesson every well.
Teach with a smile, develop good rapport with children, don't let them feel resistant to approach
us teacher. Encourage them to feel free to participate in reading activities.

Based on the preceding observations the following actions are recommended:
