CH: 7 Triangles

8. In ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 and ∆𝑃𝑄𝑅, three equality relations between some parts are as follows
𝐴𝐵 = 𝑄𝑃, ∠𝐵 = ∠𝑃 and 𝐵𝐶 = 𝑃𝑅
State which of the congruence conditions applies:
(a) SAS (b) ASA (c) SSS (d) RHS

The following Questions 9 to 12 are Assertion and Reason based questions. Given, one labelled as
Assertion (A) and the other is labelled as Reason (R) . Select the correct answer to these questions from
the codes (a) , (b), (c) and (d) as given below.
(a) Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
(b) Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion.
(c) Assertion is true but the reason is false.
(d) Assertion is false and reason are true.

9. Assertion: Sides opposite to equal angles of a triangle are equal.

Reason: Angles opposite to equal sides of a triangle are not equal.

10. Assertion: If any two angles and a non included side of one triangle are equal to the corresponding
angles and side of the another, then the two triangles are concurrent.
Reason: If two angles and a side of one triangle are equal to two angles and a side of another
triangle, then the two triangles must be congruent.

11.Assertion: Two angles measures a – 60° and 123º – 2a. If each one is opposite to equal sides of an
isosceles triangle, then the value of a is 61°.
Reason: Sides opposite to equal angles of a triangle are equal.

12. Assertion : In ΔABC, ∠C = ∠A, BC = 4 cm and AC = 5 cm. Then, AB = 4 cm

Reason: In a triangle, angles opposite to two equal sides are equal.

13. In the given figure, AD is bisector of ∠BAC and ∠CPD = ∠BPD. Prove that ΔCAP ≌
ΔBAP.

14. In the given figure, PS is median produced up to F and QE and RF are perpendiculars
drawn from Q and R, prove that QE = RF.

15. In the given figure, AB = BC and ∠ABO = ∠CBO, then prove that ∠DAB = ∠ECB.

16. In the given figure, two lines AB and CD intersect each other at the point O such that BC || DA and
BC = DA. Show that O is the mid point of both the line-segments AB and CD.
17. ABC is an isosceles triangle with AB = AC and BD and CE are its two medians. Show that BD =
CE.

18. In the given figure, BA ⊥ AC, DE ⊥ DF such that BA = DE and BF = EC. Show that ∆ ABC ≅ ∆
DEF.

19. In the given figure, l || m and M is the mid-point of a line segment AB. Show that M is also the
mid-point of any line segment CD, having its end points on l and m, respectively.

20. Bisectors of the angles B and C of an isosceles triangle with AB = AC intersect each other at O. BO
is produced to a point M. Prove that ∠MOC = ∠ABC.

21. In an isosceles triangle, prove that the altitude from the vertex bisects the base.

22. If two triangles have two sides and the included angle of the one equal to the corresponding sides
and the included angle of the other then prove that the triangles are congruent.

23. In the given figure, ∆ CDE is an equilateral triangle on a side CD of a square ABCD. Show that

24. As shown in the village of Surya there was a big pole PC.T his pole was tied with a strong wire of
10 m length. Once there was a big spark on this pole , thus wires got damaged very badly. Any small
fault was usually repaired with the help of a rope which normal board electricians were carrying on
bicycles. This time electricians need a staircase of 10 m so that it can reach at point P on the pole and
this should make 600 with line AC.

(i) Show that  APC and  BPC are congruent.

(ii) Find the value of x.
(iii) What is the value of angle PB

25. In a park, there are two triangular flower beds. Flower bed ABC has sides AB = 8 cm, BC = 6
cm, and CA = 10 cm. Flower bed PQR has sides PQ = 8 cm, QR = 10 cm, and RP = 6 cm.

(i) Using the given information, can we conclude that flower bed ABC is congruent to flower
bed PQR? Why or why not?
(ii) If angle A = 40° and angle B = 60° in flower bed ABC, what is the measure of angle C?
(iii) In flower bed ABC, a new side AD is added such that AD = 8 cm. Now, can we conclude
that triangle ABD is congruent to triangle PQR? Why or why not?
