Introduction:

Good [morning/afternoon], everyone. Today, we’re excited to

present our IoT-based Women and Child Safety System, a
project designed to enhance personal safety using modern
technology. We will walk you through the problem, the solution,
and how our device functions.

1. What is IoT?

Before we dive into our solution, let’s briefly explain what IoT is.
IoT stands for the Internet of Things a network of physical
devices connected to the internet, allowing them to collect, share,
and act on data. From smart homes to connected cars, IoT is
transforming how we interact with the world around us by
creating smart systems that are intelligent, responsive, and
efficient.

In our project, we use IoT to address a serious issue: safety for

women and children.

2. Problem Statement:

In today’s world, safety is a significant concern, especially for

women and children. Every day, women face the threat of
harassment and assault, while children are failing to risk such as
kidnapping and child trafficking. These incidents often occur when
individuals are commuting alone, especially during odd hours or
in remote areas. Parents, too, are hesitant to allow their children
to travel alone due to these dangers. Despite advances in
technology, personal safety remains a tough issue.

3. Solution: Our Device

To tackle this problem, we have developed a portable safety

device that IoT make use of technology to provide immediate
assistance in times of danger.

Device Components:

 ESP32 Module: The brain of our system, which connects all

the components and sends data to the cloud in real-time.
 GPS Module: This tracks the user's location continuously.
 Button: A panic button that the user can press when they
feel unsafe or are in danger.
 INMP441 Microphone: This captures audio, which can be
used as evidence or for real-time monitoring in an
emergency.
 Power Bank: A portable power source that keeps the device
running.

How the Device Works:

Here’s how the device functions: When the user feels threatened,
they simply press the button. This action triggers the device to:

1. Capture the User's Location via the GPS module.

2. Send an Alert containing the location and audio data to a
mobile application that is connected to the system.
3. The alert is then sent to the user's emergency contacts,
providing them with real-time updates on the user's
whereabouts.

The system ensures that help is just a button press away.

4. Mobile Application and its Features:

Our device is complemented by a mobile application, developed

using Android Studio. The mobile app is designed to be the
interface that communicates with the device and emergency
contacts.

Features of the Mobile App:

 Real-Time Alerts: The app receives an alert instantly when

the panic button is pressed, notifying emergency contacts.
 Location Tracking: It displays the real-time GPS location of
the user on a map, allowing for immediate tracking.

 Audio Monitoring: If activated, the app also provides
access to audio recordings from the microphone, which can
be useful for gathering more information about the situation.
 Emergency Contact Setup: The user can pre-configure
emergency contacts who will receive alerts in case of
danger.

The app makes it easier for family or friends to track and respond
quickly during emergencies.

5. How the Mobile App and Device Are Connected:

The mobile app and device are connected via the Firebase Real-
time Database. Here’s how it works:

 When the Button is Pressed, the ESP32 module sends the

user’s location and any audio recordings to Firebase.
 Firebase acts as a cloud-based intermediary, instantly
updating the mobile app with the user’s data.
 The App then displays this information to the emergency
contacts, ensuring they are alerted in real-time.

This seamless integration ensures a fast and reliable response,

making sure the alert is communicated within seconds.

6. Prototype vs Real System:

It’s important to note that what we are presenting today is a

prototype. While the prototype might appear bulky, the final
product can be made like smaller and more compact. With
advancements in hardware reduction in size, the real system could
be reduced in size to fit comfortably into a pocket or be worn as a
small accessory, making it even more portable and user-friendly.

7. Conclusion:

In conclusion, the IoT-based Women and Child Safety System

is designed to offer a reliable solution to the safety concerns
faced by women and children. It combines the power of IoT with
real-time alerting and location tracking, ensuring that help is
always within reach.
