İf Conditional Demo Dersi

Overview
Today we gonna look four conditional plus mixed conditional. İn english we have 0,1,2,3
and mixed conditionals.Each conditionals has if clause.

'if' clause main clause

0 (Zero Conditional): If + present simple present simple

1st (First Conditional): If + present simple will + infinitive

2nd (Second
If + past simple would + infinitive
Conditional):

3rd (Third
If + past perfect would have + past participle
Conditional):

Mixed Conditional:

• İf clause gives us condition(If you study hard)and main clause gives us result.
If you freeze water, it becomes solid.(Zero Conditional)
If it rains tomorrow, I'll take the car.(First Conditional)
If I lived closer to the cinema, I would go more often.(Second Conditional)
If I had known about the party, I would have gone.(Third Conditional)

• Zero and First conditions express real,possible conditions and results. Second and
Third conditional express unreal,impossible conditions and results. And Lastly mixed
condition is combination of second and third conditional but we come to there first
we start with zero conditional.

What is Clause?
a clause is a group of words that contains a subject and a verb. Clauses can be classified
into two main types:
1. Independent Clauses: These clauses express a complete thought and can stand alone
as sentences. For example:
• "She loves reading."
• "The dog barked loudly."
2. Dependent Clauses (or subordinate clauses): These clauses do not express a
complete thought and cannot stand alone as sentences. They are usually introduced
by subordinating conjunctions (like because, although, if, when) or relative pronouns
(like who, which, that). For example:
• "Although she loves reading, she didn't have time."
• "Because my bus didn't come on time, I was late to school."

What is Present Simple?


The present simple tense is used to talk about actions that happen regularly, facts, or
current states.
When to Use Present Simple:
• Habitual Actions: Actions that happen regularly or repeatedly.
Example: I eat breakfast every morning.

• General Truths: Facts that are always true.


Example: Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.

• Current States: Describing how things are now.


Example: She lives in Paris.

What is Will,would,would have?


1. Will
"Will" is used to express future intentions, promises, or predictions.
Usage:
• To make a decision at the moment of speaking:
Example: "I will help you with your homework."

• To express a future fact or certainty:


Example: "It will rain tomorrow."

2. Would
"Would" is often used to express a conditional situation, polite requests, or habitual actions
in the past.
Usage:
• To express a hypothetical situation:
Example: "If I had a million dollars, I would travel the world."

• To make a polite request:


Example: "Would you please pass the salt?"

• To describe habitual actions in the past:


Example: "When I was a child, I would play outside every day."

3. Would Have
"Would have" is used to express a situation that did not happen in the past, often in
conditional sentences.
Usage:
• To talk about something that did not occur due to a certain condition:
Example: "If I had known about the meeting, I would have attended."

• To reflect on regrets or missed opportunities:


Example: "I would have gone to the party if I hadn’t been sick."

İnfinitive nedir
The infinitive is the base form of a verb, often preceded by the word "to." It expresses an
action or state without indicating a subject or tense.
Structure: To + base verb (e.g., to run, to eat, to read).

Examples:
To eat is essential for survival.
She loves to dance.
They decided to go to the park.

• Bare Infinitive
The bare infinitive is the base form of a verb without the particle "to." It is used in specific
grammatical contexts.
I heard him sing.
They let her go.
She can dance well.

Past simple nedir?


The past simple tense is used to describe actions that happened and were completed in
the past.

Structures:
Affirmative Form:Subject + past form of the verb

Example:
I walked to the store.
She played soccer.

Negative Form:Subject + did not + base form of the verb


Example:
I did not walk to the store.
She did not play soccer.

Interrogative Form:Did + subject + base form of the verb

Example:
Did you walk to the store?
Did she play soccer?

Past Participle nedir?


The past participle is a form of a verb that typically ends in -ed,-en for regular verbs (like
talked or jumped) and takes various forms for irregular verbs (like gone from go or seen
from see).

Regular Verbs
Definition: Regular verbs are verbs that form their past tense and past participle by adding
-ed to the base form.

Examples:

Base Form: walk


Past Tense: walked
Past Participle: walked

Some Rules:
• You can also include rules for spelling changes when adding -ed, such as:
If the verb ends in e, just add d (e.g., love → loved).
If the verb ends in a consonant + y, change y to i and add ed (e.g., cry → cried).

Irregular Verbs
Definition: Irregular verbs do not follow a set pattern for forming their past tense and past
participle. Their forms can vary significantly from the base form.

Examples:
Base Form: go
Past Tense: went
Past Participle: gone

Past Perfect Nedir?


The past perfect tense is used to describe an action that was completed before another
action or point in time in the past. It helps establish a clear sequence of events.
