DAY 1 – GUIDED CONCEPT EXPLORATION
A. Reviewing previous lesson/s or A multi-meter is an electronic instrument used to measure voltage, current, and resistance in a
presenting a new lesson circuit. Professionals can use multi-meters to detect levels of changes in voltage, current, and
resistance by attaching the test probe to electrical circuit or system.

lesson and equipment these includes, assorted hand tools, solder kits and stations, test instruments like
multi-tester, signal generator, and oscilloscopes. It is important to have reliable and accurate test
What’s New instrument, as well as to have good
knowledge and skills in using them.
What is a Multi-Meter?
What are the types of Multi-Meter?
What are the Hazards and Safety Precaution observed while using the Multi-Meter?
C. Presenting examples Three Main Parts of the Multi-Meter
1. Display / Meter Scale
What is it 2. Range Selector / Adjustments
3. Ports / Test Probe

D. Discussing New Concepts Testing and Measurements

Preliminaries
What is it A. Calibrate a Multi-meter (Analog)
1. Set the multi-meter to the highest resistance range by turning the range
selector to the highest "ohm" setting.
2. Touch the test probe of your multi-meter together.
3. Adjust the zero-ohm adjustment knob until the ohmmeter pointer read zero
resistance.
B. Basic Safety Tips:
1. Make use of your personal protective equipment appropriate for the task.
2. Be careful when handling live circuits.
3. Avoid operating the meter in damp or humid environments.
DAY 2 – EXPERIENTIAL AND INTERACTIVE ENGAGEMENT
E. Continuation of the discussion Continuity and Resistance Test and Measurements
of new concept 1. Set the multi-meter to the ohmmeter range (X1 Ohm for continuity or X10,
X100, X1k, or 10k Ohm/s for resistance reading).
What is it 2. Using the test probes touch each end to the component, or device.
3. If the ohmmeter read zero resistance, the wire or conductor is good. If it is a
component or device, it is shorted / grounded.
4. When the ohmmeter read infinite or needle does not deflect, the conductor is
broken, while if it is a component or device it is open.
5. The ohmmeter scale will show a reading if the conductor or device have a
resistance.
DAY 3 – EXPERIENTIAL AND INTERACTIVE ENGAGEMENT
F. Developing Mastery Reading Resistances
1. Look at the top of the scales where you see the Blue symbol on the meter
What’s More panel.
2. Take the reading on the deflection of the pointer in the scale (Fig. 1.5

reading)
3. Multiply the value set on the range selector (Fig. X10).
4. Formula: Scale Reading X Range Selection = Measured Resistance
Answer: 1.5 X10 = 150
Reading Voltages
DCV and ACV
1. When measuring DC voltage, the reading was taken on the DCV scale colored
black while ACV reading was taken on the ACV scale colored red.
2. Set the range selector to the desired voltage. (DCV or ACV)
3. VOLTAGE Measurement Table

4. With the meter reading on the pointer position the voltage measurement for the following range
are as follows:
