OF A COMPUTER

PRINNTER It allows digital data to be


converted to print format.

SCANNER It is used to convert printed


materials into digital form.

FLASH It is a small, ultra-portable storage


DRIVE device.

MONITOR It displays the video and graphics


information generated by the
computer through the video card.
SPEAKER This device allows users to hear
audio stored in the computer’s
storage.
It is responsible for interpreting
and executing most of the
CPU commands from the computer's
other hardware and software.
KEYBOARD It is used to input text, characters,
and other commands into a
computer or a similar device
MOUSE It is a hand-operated input device
used to manipulate objects on a
computer screen.
MOST COMMON SOFTWARE PROBLEMS

1.COMPUTER SYSTEM IS HANGING OR NOT


RESPONDING.

If the operating system or other software in


unresponsive, try to look for the task manager in
your operating system to end the task or the
process

If the computer does not respond at all, restart


your computer by pressing the power button for
a few seconds and then run a virus scan once the
computer has been restarted. Make sure you
have a reliable antivirus software, it can be
licensed or free, which is available online

2. OPERATING SYSTEM WILL NOT BOOT PROPERLY.

The operating system might have encountered a


system boot failure or was improperly shut
down. If this iw the case, the operating system
needs to be restarted or reformatted. Make sure
to save your files on a separate storage device,
such as flash drives or external hard drives
before restarting of reformatting the system

3. COMPUTER IS BECOMING SLOW.


If your computer is slower than usual, you can
often fix the problem by cleaning and removing
unwanted files from the hard disk. It can also be
a sign of insufficient memory External hard
drives are great storage solutions for overloaded
central processing unit and will help your
computer run faster

4. INSTALLED DEVICES ARE NOT WORKING.

There are times that the installed devices are


not working after updating the computer
operating system. Check your other installed
software that may need updating to make the
devices function well.

5. COMPUTER FILES ARE INFECTED WITH VIRUSES.

You may accidentally catch malware or adware.


Especially when you browse the internet and
automatically. Install unknown apps to your
computer. Avoid this by installing firewall,
antivirus, and antispyware tools and scheduling
regular registry scans.

Files that are already infected by a computer


virus can be saved by scanning the file itself. In
any case that the file cannot be opened, it needs
to be deleted, us it will infect other files. Scan
external storage devices when Plugging them
into the computer
6. MOUSE AND KEYBOARD HAVE STOPPED
WORKING.

If you are using a wired mouse or keyboard.


Make sure it is correctly plugged into the
desktop computer and it is not broken. You may
also remove the plug and reconnect. Sometimes
cables are just loose.

If you are using a wireless mouse or keyboard,


check if the wireless USB is plugged into the
desktop computer properly. See if the batteries
for the wireless mouse and keyboard have
enough charge.

7. SOUND IS NOT WORKING.

Check the volume level. Look for the audio


button in your computer to make sure the sound
is turned on and the volume is up. The audio
button is usually located at the bottom-right
corner of the screen.

Check the cables. Make sute external speakers


or headphones are plugged in, turned on, and
connected to the correct audio port or a
Universal Serial Bus (USB) port. If your computer
has colur-coded porn, the audio output port will
usually be green

Check if the driver for the sound card is installed


or needs an update
8. SCREEN IS BLANK.

The computer may be in sleep mode. Click the


mouse or press any key on the keyboard to wake
it.

Make sure the monitur is plugged in and turned


on.

9. DESKTOP COMPUTER WILL NOT TURN ON.

Make sure that the outlet or extension. Cord is


working before you plug the power cable.

Replace the power cable if you have one.

Check the power button if it’s not stick.

10. THERE IS NOISE COMING FROM THE CPU.

If you hear clicking or grinding sounds from the


hard drive, then it might be time to get a new
one. Hard drives have a limited life span, and
loud sounds are the main sign of a hard drive
failure.

MAINTENANCE TECHNIQUES

1. Always check the cables. Check all related


cables to make sure they are properly connected
and not broken.
2. Free up some hard drive space. Giving your
computer storage with at least 15% to 20% free
space will allow the operating system to write
temporary files, helping it to ruo more smoothly.

3. Install any available updates. If updates in


hardware drivers are available online, grab the
opportunity to do so it will help you save time
looking for updates when a problem occurs

WORD PROCESSING

Word processing is the term used to describe the


writing of letters, reports, and other documents
using a computer. It helps you save time and
improve the appearance of your document. A word
processor is an application designed to use the
computer as a useful electronic writing tool that
can edit, save, and print documents.

USES OF WORD PROCESSING

Word processors offer a wide variety of features


that can help people produce different documents
for a specific purpose. Anyone can use word
processors because of their user-friendly
interface.

Teachers use word processors to create letters,


newsletters, certificates, brochures, and many
other desktop publications. Students can also
create letters, research papers, projects, and
notes. Professionals and employees can produce
resumes, reports, application letters, letterheads,
and any work- related documents.

GETTING FAMILIAR WITH WORD PROCESSING

Microsoft Word (MS Word) is one of the most


common word processors available in the market.
It can be accessed from Microsoft Office’s
productivity tools that have different programs for
different tasks. The latest version today is
Microsoft Word 2019
How to Create a New Document Based on the
Different Available Templates
1.Select a template (e.g., Blue curve business cards).
Once it is selected. A window will appear with details
about the template. Click Create.

2.Next, you will see the selected business card template


ready for editing contents,

3.To put contents in the business card, you just need to


edit the first card. It will be automatically applied to
the rest of the cards.
4.To insert a logo, select each LOGO HERE box, right-click
and choose Change Picture, and then click From a File.
It means that the image to be inserted is stored in a

folder in the computer.

5.A window will appear, letting you locate your image to


be inserted. Once located, just click on the desired
image and then click Insert.
6.To save a new document, press Ctrl+S on the
keyboard, or click the Save button on the upper left
corner of the document. You may also click the File tab

then select Save.

7.A dialog box will appear asking for a File Name. Under
Choose a Location, you can choose where the file will
be stored. To locate a folder, click the arrow on Choose
a Location or More save options then press Save.

Notice that the file name on the upper left corner has
changed from Document3 to My Business Cards.
Documents in Microsoft Word are usually saved in the
Documents folder with the file type DOCX.

8.You can also save the files in a different location, with


a different file name, and with a different file type. Just

click on the File tab, then select Save As.

9.To save under a different file name, delete the existing


file name and type a new one. Documents can also be
saved in a different file format. Just click the arrow on
the file type and select your desired file type. It can be
saved as a template. Portable Document Format (PDF),
web page, rich test format, or any file type you want to
use.
10.Click Browse to locate the folder or drive.A dialog box
will appear on the left side. Click Save to finish

the process.
