Aswer : Pinter (2006:38) said that the goals and objectives of the English language
learning program in elementary schools are to train students in developing various skills
that exist in themselves, both communication skills, getting to know various cultures,
and encouraging children to be curious about new things.
5. What are the objectives of learning English in the current curriculum?
Aswer :
1) Develop the ability to communicate in English both oral and written. These
abilities are listening, speaking, writing and reading.

Answer :
The characteristics of beginners in learning English include
1) Elementary school-age English learners tend to have short attention spans.
2) Elementary School Age English Learners as Active Learners.
3) Elementary School Age English Learners Like to be Praised or Rewarded.
4) Every English Learner in Elementary School Has a Different Language
Experience from One Another.
5) Elementary school-age English learners tend to be bolder and not shy in
doing, trying, and learning new things.
6) Elementary School Age English Learners Respond to English Well Through
Presentation of Concrete Objects (Visual Objects) Instead of Using Abstract
Objects.
7) Elementary School Age English Learners Enjoy Learning While Playing.

7. Explain the meaning of the characteristics of Elementary school-age English learners
tend to have short attention spans!
Answer : Generally English learners in elementary schools are young learners. Like
other young learners, elementary school-age English learners also get bored easily and
tend to be impatient, especially with activities that take a long time. Likewise, they get
bored quickly with activities that are less interesting or not in accordance with their
interests and thinking power.

8. Why are elementary school students called active learners?


Answer : As we understand, active learners tend to be less interested in learning
methods that give more time for presenting theory as exposure, they play more of a
passive learner.They prefer to learn by doing (learning by doing), namely the physical
and mental activities they do are an integral part of learning English itself.

9. What is the meaning of Elementary School Age English Learners Enjoy Learning
While Playing?
Answer : Learning English will be easier for elementary school age learners to learn
when it is delivered in fun ways such as through games because of the nature of children
who like to play.

10. What can the teacher do to provide a reference for the spirit to learn better, especially
when students have made progress/achievements?
Answer : It would be nice if the input and criticism to young learners is conveyed in
ways and language that are in accordance with the thinking patterns of young learners.
Children will respond well to the praise (rewards) given by the teacher. Based on this,
try to always encourage them to make progress and reward their efforts in achieving it
by giving encouraging rewards such as giving praise "Good", "Keep the good work",
"Excellent", "Two thumbs up", and others.

11. Why being brave is more daring in trying and learning new things is beneficial for
elementary school age learners?
Answer : This trait is very beneficial for elementary school age learners so that when
they hone their English skills, the results they get tend to be better and faster than adult
learners who are more risk averse and tend to be shy in doing tasks that are foreign to
them.
12. What can teachers do to hone English skills for elementary school-aged students who
tend to be more adventurous in trying and learning new things?
Answer : The teacher invites the students to do challenging activities such as having
simple conversations with strangers, recording their voices when practicing speaking
skills and being heard in front of the class, repeating simple utterances, imitating the
pronunciations of English vocabulary that they have heard from films/audio-visual
media in front of the class, and others.

13. What are the advantages of the nature of elementary school-age English learners who
like to imitate (imitating) and demonstrate with a face (mimicking)?
Answer : These characteristics make elementary school-age English learners have
quite good and accurate listening skills and have fluency in correct and precise English
vocabulary pronunciation better than adults.

14. Explain the characteristics of elementary school-age English learners who often pay
more attention to themselves than others!
Answer : In general, primary school-age English learners are often more concerned
with themselves than others. However, in learning, students often enjoy working
together with their peers. In learning English either individually, in pairs (peers), or in
groups (groups) can be done according to the needs and learning objectives.

15. What teachers can do for elementary school-aged English learners who have very
limited reading and writing skills?
Answer : Teachers can choose topics that are close to the everyday world of elementary
school students such as “My self”, “My family”, “My body”, and others. Students can
be taught English skills to listen (listening) and pronounce vocabulary correctly
(pronounciation) first. After they are able to master these skills, teachers can continue
learning other skills, namely reading short texts and writing simple sentences. Along
with the development of children's language skills and knowledge, these topics can then
be further developed in a broader direction and can be integrated with themes in other
subjects that are a is in elementary school.
