Bring on your Mecha Messis and Robo Ronaldoes, for it is the ultimate showdown in the football arena of GOAL.

PROBLEM STATEMENT: Design a soccer robot and compete on an arena which is specially designed for the ROBO SOCCER match. The event mainly focuses on testing the mobility of the robots and the innovative pushing mechanisms. It also tests your stability, control, and the various strategies and counter strategies you employ. ARENA SPECIFICATIONS:

Arena will be on a flex sheet Field dimensions 3m X 2m Goal post dimensions 50cm X 25cm Goal post half circle dimensions 60cm dia Center circle dimensions 25cm dia

ROBOT SPECIFICATIONS:

The robot should fit inside a box of 25cm*25cm*25cm at the starting point The robot can be wired, wireless or autonomous. The robot should be self powered with supply not exceeding 12V (on board power supply). There is no weight limit for this robot. A tolerance of 5% is allowed in the dimensions and power supply.

GENERAL RULES

The match will be played on a one-on-one basis. Regular Ball-Badminton ball will be used. The competition will be played on knock-out basis. Teams playing against each other will be decided on the basis of a draw Only one ball is placed on the arena and the goal should be made in the respective goal posts. Time limit is 3 minutes. If the ball is hit out of the arena then it will be placed in the center of the arena. If a goal is made with in the specified time limit then whichever robot makes the goal that would go to the next round. If the robots and ball are stuck at a place for more than 15seconds then ball and robots are replaced to their initial positions. If the ball is hit out of the arena by a single robot for 5 times within the specified time limit then that robot would be disqualified. In case of a tie, there will be penalty shoot outs.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

Team can have maximum number of four members. Initially, the robot should fit in a 25cm X 25cm X 25cm box. A goal is scored when the entire ball crosses the goal line. "Self goals" will be treated as a goal to the opposition. A robot can push (it should not push more than 2m) or hit the ball. It cannot withhold or grab the ball.

Holding a ball means taking full control of the ball. Examples for ball holding include fixing the ball to the robot's chassis, surrounding a ball using the robot's chassis to prevent access by the opponent, encircling the ball or somehow trapping the ball with any part of the robot.

If the robot touches the boundary more than the limit specified by the event coordinator (limit will be announced on the day of event) then the robot will be replaced to its initial position.

Human interference (e.g. touching the robot) during the game is not allowed. No time will be given to repair the robot after round 2. Unfair game may lead to disqualification of the team. The robot should not harm the opponent or the field. Constantly harming the arena may lead to disqualification. Decision of the Event Organizers shall be treated as final and binding on all and cannot be contested. The event coordinator is the match referee. He/she takes all the decisions and participants are not supposed to argue with him/her.

A robot with the base of a toy car and its gear box as a machine part will be disqualified. Also, Lego kits are strictly prohibited and will lead to disqualification. Participants with wired robots are strictly advised to get wires of length 4m or more. If the robot holds/gets stuck with the obstacle or the ball for 3 seconds then the robot and the ball would be replaced to their original positions.
