3D GAME ASSET

DESCRIPTION:
3D Games asset comprises of 3D environments with props, which are modelled with optimised
polycount and precise texturing. 3D game assets are integral parts of Game Art & Design for AAA and
Mobile games.

THEME: Open

FORMAT: 1 Render output image (.jpeg)

SUBMISSION DETAILS:
• Students will submit their final entry (artwork) to the respective center manager.
• File naming: 24FPS 2023_3DGA_<Centre Name>_<Student Name>

Modeling:
• Any game asset like Weapons, Vehicles, Props, Environments and Characters can be created. Model can be stylized
or realistic. Model must be proportionate.
• Small components in the model can be created by normal map texture, anything that gets to be seen in silhouette
should be modelled.

Polycount:
• Model poly count should be low .However, corners of mesh should not have facet or low poly feel, and those areas
should be given enough mesh resolution.

Topology:
• Model topology should be perfect as mesh curve flow should be aligned to deformation of mesh.

Workflow:
• Low poly Model (Final model) can be created inside Maya/Max/Blender and sculpted in ZBrush/Mudbox/Blender.
• Sculpting can be done first in ZBrush/Mudbox/Blender and later retopologized in Maya/Max/Blender

UV:
• UV Layouts should be created with proper texel density
• Single UV or UDIM map workflow or multi UV sets can be used.
• Overlapping of UV for Main parts should be a Avoided.

Texturing
• Texture creation must be in Substance painter, Photoshop can be used as additional tool and not as main tool for
texture creation.
• Texture size to be 4K, if system does not support it can be 2K
• PBR workflow should be followed (Albedo map, Roughness map, Metal ness map, Normal map)
• Texture cloning should not contain weird patch, blurred effect and repeating effect.

Final Submission:

Submission should be done as a 10-page pdf as shared below and should not exceed 10 mb .

Target audience and platform (PC, console, mobile) should be specifically mentioned.

• Page1- Asset Render image ( high quality )


• Page2- Close up rendered images of Asset
• Page3 – Multiple rendered images from different camera angles
• Page4- Reference Mood Board. If asset is created with inspiration from some other artwork, the
original must be shared.
• Page5- Wireframe with shaded view ( high quality single image with poly count )
• Page6 - UV layout snapshot
• Page8 – Screenshots of stages of ZBrush sculpt if any
• Page 9- Screenshots of Substance painter/Photoshop file showing layers
• Page10 - Texture Maps (Diffuse , Metalness, Roughness, Normal, Opacity, Emissive, SSS)

Project Folder Details (To be submitted only on demand by Jury)

• Game assets should be optimized for performance. File sizes should be small without sacrificing
quality.
• Asset Project folder should be maintained in case asked by the Jury.
• Proper File Naming convention needs to be followed and proper folder structure needs to be
maintained.

Folder should contain following Source Files

• Low Poly mesh in OBJ Format


• Zbrush (.Ztl ) files if any
• Substance Painter project(.spp ) files
• Texture Maps (Diffuse , Metalness, Roughness, Normal, Opacity, Emissive, SSS)
