TOPICS ---------maam Heariales gives us insights about:

PEDAGOGICAL APPROACHES IN TEACHING
A. CONSTRUCTIVISM or Constructivist approach
-Emphasizes students actively constructing their own understanding and knowledge through experiences and reflection
while the teachers serve as the facilitators and guide. This fosters critical thinking, creativity, flexibility, active and
lifelong learning.

B. COLLABORATIVE LEARNING
-Students work together in groups to achieve common learning goals, encouraging teamwork and peer learning, generally
involves a 3-STEPS process: Introduce the task, provide time -----enough for the learners to engage in the task and
debrief or sharing summary.

C. INTEGRATIVE TEACHING
- Putting together the lesson and real-life, lessons from other disciplines, MIs and learning styles. This tends to focus on
specific connections between different bits of information, rather than facts in isolation.
This can be done thru different MODES of I.T
a.) Thematic Teaching- linking content and process with a variety of disciplines. (Learn to teach across the area)
b.) CBI (Content-based Instruction)- integration of language in content knowledge
c.) Focusing Inquiry- Focuses on research (for gr.10)

D. INQUIRY -BASED LEARNING

-Students explore questions, problems, or scenarios to deepen their understanding by gathering information
and data. Gives way for the use of differentiated instruction strategies categorized into Low-level and High-
level skills.

E. REFLECTIVE TEACHING/LEARNING
- (REFLECTIVE TEACHING) a self-assessment of teaching
- (REFLECTIVE learning) relating the lesson to their own lives

F. DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION

-gives equal access & opportunity to: diversity of learners, Mis of the learners, learners with disabilities,
struggling and with learning difficulties

TEACHING STRATEGIES:

DIRECT- Lecture, demo

INDIRECT- problem solving, peer instruction, simulations, jigsaw, use of graphic organizers, storytelling,
project-based, role-playing, word walls/word parts
EXPERENTIAL- Field trips, project-based, dramatization
INTERACTIVE- drill/practice, concept mapping and many more

“Tell me I forget, I forget

Show me, I remember
Involved me, I understand”
-quote by BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

There were few questions raised and it was answered by maam Heariales and then she allows us proceed to the
next topic while having a short break since its still 1 hour before lunch, instead of doing so, we just ended the morning
session @:
ENDED: 10:55 AM

When I got back after taking my lunch the seminar has started already for 1hr. (12:03 NN)

Resume…
-T____ introduced the general parts of each LP format (3Is, 4As, 4Es)
-was group into 3
-pick a number for which LP format each group is going to use to present later that afternoon.

We were given the time to make our LP , other group went to the library for references while the rest stayed at the
venue. Later on, it was decided to have the demonstration on the following day to give us ample time to prepare for the
lesson but we submitted a copy of our LP to ma’am Heariales.

-Mam Su and Maam Hariales ( classroom assignments per departments)

SCLC INSET
DAY-3 MINUTES
SY 2024-2025

DATE: JULY 17, 2024

VENUE:
PARTICIPANTS: 14 in the morning and 12 in the afternoon
TIME: The meeting has been called to order @ 8:15 AM by T. Jenny and T. Ellen and started it with a prayer through AVP followed
by the PAMBANSANG AWIT NG PILIPINAS, Sugbu Hymn, a thought for the day that was shared by T. Ellen “Learn from
yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.” The phrase was meant to encourage people to reflect on their past
experiences, make the most of the present, and look forward to the future, then the energizer and lastly was the wrap up
for the Day-2 INSET.

Proceed directly to the DEMONSTRATION

1st DEMONSTRATION (T. VAN & T. KC)

-Topic: Measures of Central Tendency for Gr. 7 Mathematics
-Started: (8:35 am-----9:23 am) = 48 mins.

2nd DEMONSTRATION (T. Jona & T. Ellen)

-Topic: Verb for Gr. 3 English
-Started: (9:25 am -9:53 am) = 28 minutes??????

3rd DEMONSTRATION (T. Regina & T. Daphne)

-Topic: 2D and 3D
-Started: (9:55 am-10:23 am) = 32 minutes??????????

COMMENTS (Ma’am Heriales)

for the first demo.,
 T. Jenny gives a positive comment esp. on the Evaluation and madam agrees to it.
 It’s supposed to be a 55 mins. lesson but lasted only for 48 minutes, remaining minutes should be utilized by giving
another activity.
 Don’t leave your class a “dead air”

2nd demo.,

 Avoid being domineering/dominant (I want you to……)

 In review, refrain from asking ‘’what was our topic yesterday?’’
 That charades on the lesson should be at the activity part
 Correcting of interchanged words in the sentence during the delivery of the lesson
 Evaluation should be consistent and congruent to your objectives

3rd demo.,

 Maka wow ang IMs

 On T. Ram’s view, the topic should be divided into two lessons because that would be too hard for the gr.1 and we
agreed to that.
 It’s NOT ”How do you call it?”’BUT ‘’WHAT IS THIS SHAPE CALLED?’’

SHORT BREAK 11:09 AM

CONTINUE……….
Maam Heriales discussed about the…
Learning Dimensions and learning competencies to develop
 COGNITIVE domains-encompass the KNOWLEDGE & COMPREHENSION level
 PSYCHOMOTOR domains- include life-long learning skills such as: APPLICATION, SYNTHESIS & ANALYSIS
 AFFECTIVE domains- internalization of Attitude and Values encompassing skills in EVALUATION

Here are the competencies to develop, could be

 KNOWLEDGE LEVEL---------------Identify, recognize and define

 COMPREHENSION LEVEL (UNDERSTANDING)---summarize, classify, discuss
 APPLICATION LEVEL-----solve, illustrate, convert
 ANALYSIS LEVEL--------differentiate, organize, compare
 SYNTHESIS LEVEL------design, formulate, generate
 EVALUATION LEVEL (JUDGEMENT)-----critique, defend, argue

Next that was tackled is about… THE HIERARCHY OF QUESTIONING AND QUESTIONING TECHNIQUES following the
Bloom’s Taxonomy of Cognitive Domain. In here, maam Heriales gives us the definition of each level of competency and
there were sample test also that helped us fully understand the discussion yesterday. Furthermore, the categories of TEST
TYPES were delivered well, and the general rules in selecting appropriate test type and level of test item were also tackled
which is also a good one because here we were able to know what we must do, what not to include and most importantly is
what to avoid when we are making the test items.

ENDED: 12:34 NN

TOS- TABLE OF SPECIFICATION (T. Leslie)

Here, she discussed what is a TOS, why is it important to us as teachers and WHAT DO WE NEED before
constructing a TOS.
 Knowledge on Revised Blooms Taxonomy (From noun to verb)
knowledge-remembering
comprehension-understanding
application-applying
analysis – analyzing
evaluating- evaluation
synthesis-creating
 Sample format of a TOS WAS SHOWN on the screen.

HOW TO CONTRUCT A TOS?

 Secure a copy of LP
 Copy to the TOS the Learning Competencies for each grading period
 Allocate the no. of hours and get the percentage by:

% = no. of hrs. in each objective x100

Total no. of hrs
 Determine the number of items by:
No. of items= TOTAL No. of Items x Percentage of Teaching time
100
