EQF and NQF

EQF is a European-wide framework that provides a common reference framework

to promote transparency and comparability of qualifications across different
European countries.
- It aims to facilitate the recognition of qualifications and promote the mobility of
learners and workers within Europe. It consists of eight levels. Each level
describes what a learner knows, understands, and can demonstrate.

NQF is specific to individual countries and is a framework that organizes

and classifies qualifications within that particular nation.

European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System
(ECTS)
❑ What is ECTS?

❑ What are the advantages of ECTS? (for the learner)

❑ What is the link between ECTS credits and Workload?

❑ Are learning outcomes directly related to activities and ECTS credits?

❑ How do you decide how many credits a degree program should have?

❑ How do you assign credits to different modules?

19
European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System
(ECTS)
❖ It is based on the student workload and learning outcomes of a program.
❖ It aims at facilitating mobility through credit transfer across institutions and countries.
❖ It is a measurement of student’s outcomes and achievement.

20
How ECTS is calculated?
Workload (Student Learning Time SLT)

❑ The time a student needs to efficiently learn a curriculum and

complete course activities (achieve learning outcomes).
❑ It is estimated in hours.

Workload hours include:

Scheduled activities and self-study time (outside class)

Lecture Tutorial Field visit Exam

Learning
Lab Report Clinic Assignment
Activities

Seminar Project Quiz Preparation
