Explain the advantages, recommendations, precautions and techniques of
Geneal nebulization in patients with acquired pneumonia through a simulated
case.
sass
Indicate the nebulization materials and procedures and the different ways
to nebulize.
Apply the nursing care process according to the data presented in the case.
Identify the care that nursing must exercise when medicating the patient
with nebulizations.

• Micronebulizer
• Oxygen tank, or oxygen
intake with flowmeter
• Medication (fenoterol,
adrenaline, atropine, etc.)
Gloves
0.9% physiological saline or 2ml
disposable syringe
• Check and verify the medical indication, that it is the correct patient, the dose and the appropriate time.
• Prepare the equipment and the drug, as well as the serum to mix with it if necessary.
• We wash our hands.
• Inform the patient of what we are going to administer, as well as the importance and purpose of
the treatment, so that they collaborate as much as possible.
• Place the patient in Fowler's position whenever possible.
• Check the good condition of the nebulizer and that it is connected to the gas or electricity outlet
and introduce the drug. If necessary, we add saline solution.
• Open the gas intake if applicable and turn on the appliance. Make sure that a mist comes out of
the mask. Next we regulate the flow.
• Place the mask on the patient and leave the nebulization on for as long as necessary or as long
as the patient can tolerate it.
• When finished, we remove the mask and turn off the device. In the
event that the patient needs oxygen, we put it back on. We leave it in
the most comfortable position possible and carry out the relevant
hygiene.
Types of Nebulizers
They are classified depending on the type of compressor they
use to convert the liquid medication into an aerosol, with three
main types of nebulizer:
