getting darker as black clouds passed overhead. 1 had been playing around in an open field near
my home when the rain suddenly began pouring down on me. A huge gust of wind came up
and blew at me. The trees around me shook and I began running home. Just then I heard the
thunder. Boom! Boom! Followed by the crack oflightning.1 jumped. It sure sounded like the films
when a bomb had exploded. After that, I continued running back home, but the screeching wind
was pushing me back. One second later, lightning strucka tree a few hundred metres away and
started it on fire. I was really scared. I remembered my mother saying that if there was lightning,
do not shelter under any tree. Now 1 know why. By then the wind had stopped, but the rain was
still going at full force. I finally dragged my tired body back home. 1 opened the door and my mum
screamed because she did not know it was me. She thought I was stil at Kelvin's house. She
scolded me for putting myself in such danger. Then she gave me a big hug. After I had cleaned up.
she told me that I looked horri e. 1 laughed and crawled into my warm bed. In the end, it was all
well with the world.
