roadmap towards the realization of your corporate vision, goals and objectives.
Moreover, it is all-embracing information pertaining to the holistic development
of your Barangay, thus your local folks will definitely be benefited.
MESSAGE
It is my pleasure to search basic data as requirements for information and
guidance for the improvement needed in my barangay.
Being the Chief Local Executive of our Local Barangay Government Unit, it is laid
in my hands the programs and development of my barangay and my people as a
whole. I am responsible to formulate concrete and exact barangay Development
Plan as the main requirement of acquiring development project in boosting my
barangay from the lowest line of poverty. Finally become a progressive

CHAPTER
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
During the 18th century, before Buenavista become a town,
AGONG-ONG was once a forest area, was no Christian people living.
There were small tribes of Manobo and Manggahat who lived at the
mouth of Agusan River, which is presently called GUIHAO-AN RIVER.
One full moon night one tribe in Sacol held celebration. They
used “agong” made up of bronze commonly used in merry making. As
the celebration went on there was a different sounds heard from far
away. It was a sound made from Agong. The natives looked from all
places but they saw nothing. The natives were wondering who made
the sounds heard for there was nobody living there. As they kept on
looking they reached the source of sounds. It was inside the hole of a
big tree was a man who struck the Agong looking outside which they
termed ong-ong. This was the beginning that the place was name
AGONG-ONG.
A. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
BARANGAY AGONG-ONG is a rural barangay of the Municipality of
Buenavista, Province of Agusan del Norte. It is bounded at North of Barangay
Sacol and East of Barangay Malpoc, at west of Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, at the
south of Barangay Macalang. It is located 3 kilometers away from the poblacion
and its nearest road link is only 1 kilometer national highway. The Barangay is
accessible by motorized tricycle, motorcycle and any four (4) wheel drive
vehicle.

C. BARANGAY ANNUAL PATRONAL FIESTA
CULRUAL CELEBRATION
The Araw ng Barangay Agong-ong, celebrated annually on May 13, is a
special occasion highlighting the diversity and unity of its
constituents. Through various activities, such as cultural showcases
and sports events, the community comes together to celebrate their
heritage and display their spirit of sportsmanship. It's a joyful
reminder of the vibrant and united spirit within the barangay.
