1. GOT IT! [15 MIN]

Function is a relation between a set of inputs and outputs.

𝑓𝑓(𝑥𝑥) = 𝑦𝑦 = 2𝑥𝑥 + 1

Represent the output

We can get the desired output by implementing an input.

Example:
We read it as 𝑓𝑓 of 𝑥𝑥 is equal to 2𝑥𝑥 + 1.
𝑓𝑓(𝑥𝑥) = 2𝑥𝑥 + 1

If the input is 1 the output will be 3. We calculate it by substituting 1 into the given equation.

𝑓𝑓(1) = 2(1) + 1 = 2 + 1 = 3
∴ (1; 3)
If it were asked to reflect the given equation across the 𝒙𝒙 − 𝒂𝒂𝒂𝒂𝒂𝒂𝒂𝒂, remember to multiply the

𝑓𝑓(𝑥𝑥): − represents the 𝑦𝑦 − value
𝑚𝑚: − represents the gradient
𝑦𝑦2 −𝑦𝑦1
− Gradient formula =

− indicates whether function will increase or decrease

𝑐𝑐: − represents the 𝑦𝑦 − 𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖
− indicates when the function will move up or down
