How to Travel in space

"We are the middle children of history. Born too late to explore
earth, born too early to explore space." -anonymous

This quote highlights a very deep aspect of our time. When humans first appeared on the
earth about 2 millions years ago the have been exploring this planet to find the best place
to live, hunt and reproduce. But as the humans developed and discovered agriculture and
formed permanent settlements the motive was no longer the same it was to find a place
with the climate that will best suit them and provides rich soil for agriculture they finally
settled near rivers this is where we find the thriving civilizations of egypt which was
formed on bank of the nile, the Indus civilization formed on the banks of Indus, etc. From
there till the time of Antarctica being discovered in 1820 to it being mapped in 1983.
Humans were driven by curiosity to explore and discover new places.

This very same curiosity made us look towards the stars and the moon and wonder what
can be hiding there. Humans with their knowledge started developing tools to explore
space itself. On April 12, 1961 Yuri Gagarin made the first trip to space. Then we landed
on the moon and have sent probes to mars and to deep interstellar space to explore what
the universe holds for us. But you and I will never be able to go to even the nearest star to
us proxima centauri as it is 4.3 light years away (40.17 trillion Km) from us and our
technology is way too primitive for such exploration.

But nonetheless we can at least see in theory which types of techniques will allow us to
explore different star systems but at this time we don't have the technology to practically
do it.

1. Advancement in propulsion: Current rocket fuel is not very

efficient and as a result the rocket is very slow upon galactic
distances. What if we swap the rocket fuel with something
better like a fusion reactor or anti-matter. In this way we can
have faster travel with the rocket being lighter and having
more fuel to boost across space. Antimatter and matter
collisions can produce immense energy which can be used to
travel at speeds of 72 million mph as compared to a measly
200,000 mph that current ion based thrusters do.
2. Wormholes: Another proposed method is using
wormholes. Wormholes are like tunnels in
spacetime which connect to very distant points
and traveling through we can cover a distance
of hundreds of light years in seconds. But the
very concept of wormhole is hypothetical yet
and we have not had any success in detecting
any wormhole. But if in the future we are able
to find and use them to travel they will help us
travel at an insane speed by wrapping space
time itself. The theory is that this can be done
by going through a blackhole but our equations break near the horizon of black
holes.

3. Warp Drive: Inspired by the theoretical concept of

warping space-time to facilitate faster-than-light (FTL) travel,
a warp drive could potentially compress space in front of a
spacecraft and expand it behind, allowing for rapid transit
between distant star systems. This concept is based on
Einstein's general theory of relativity and remains
speculative, but ongoing research explores its feasibility. This
is very promising because certain equations in physics allow
this type of travel.
4. Generation Ships: Instead of relying on near-instantaneous travel, future humans might
construct enormous spacecraft
capable of sustaining multiple
generations of inhabitants during the
long journey to another star system.
These self-sustaining vessels would
likely require advanced life support
systems, agriculture facilities, and
social structures to maintain the
population over potentially
centuries-long journeys. These ships
can also carry cryogenic system
which will stop aging when humans
are in the state of cryogenic and once
the spaceship have arrived at its
destination the humans could be woken up from that state But the engineering of such
ships is going to be a challenge and we don't have a way to wake people from the state of
cryogenic.

Remember all these methods are hypothetical and we do have the physics to support
some of them but we are unable to perform any of them practically due to our primitive
technology. Maybe in the next 7-8 generations this might be possible. Every single one is
an engineering obstacle whether it be to store antimatter to use as fuel or to wrap space
time. Until then what we can do is make advancements to our own technology and hope
for a better future.
