COMPONENT
This group box contains the inputs for the lifting lugs. These lugs are
used to lift the active part on shop floor.
This group box with inputs for the lifting lugs is only visible when
Lifting Lugs are choosen for Yoke beam lifting type top in the General
Input screen of the Pre-Design Wizard.
INPUTS
MANUAL OVERRIDE
: If manual override is cleared, the clamping system module will try to define a proper value for the
inputs for the given lifting lug when Calculate MDS-A Design is clicked in the Clamping system ribbon.
Calculation will be done based upon the maximal allowed lifting angle of 60º between lifting ropes and
the table of standard lifting lug sizes as given in UDM.04.04.08.111 Lifting Lugs. Validation will also be
done and displayed in the user interface when Validate MDS-A Design is clicked in the Clamping
System ribbon.
: If manual override is checked, the clamping system module will not change the inputs for the given
lifting lug. When Calculate MDS-A Design or Validate MDS-A Design are clicked in the Clamping
System ribbon, only the validation will be performed for the inputs of the given lifting lug.

4 LUG CAPACITY
The capacity gives the maximal allowed weight that can be lifted while using 4 of the indicated lugs together.
This capacity is defined taking in account the worst case situation of lifting with 4 slings with a maximal angle
between 2 slings of 60º. This value is given for informational purposes only and can not be changed by the
user. A higher load can be allowed on a given lug if more favorable worst case lifting conditions are specified
in the lifting instructions for the transformer.
This field will only give reliable information for the predefined standard lifting shackles. This field will therefore
only be visible when Manual override is not checked.
This input gives the active part weight without safety factors that is considered to select and check the lifting
lugs for mechanical strength.
The capacity of one single shackle that is used during the validation of the lifting lug. The transformer must be
lifted with these shackles.
