5. Section C comprises of 4 questions of 4 marks each. An internal choice has
been provided in one question. It contains two case study based questions.
6. Please check that this question paper contains 4 printed pages.

SECTION –A (6 X 2 =12)
1. If the roots of the quadratic equation (a – b)x2 + (b – c)x + (c – a) = 0 are
equal, prove that 2a = b + c .
OR
Using quadratic formula solve the following quadratic equation
p2 x2 + (p2- q2) x- q2=0

2. How many 3-digit numbers are divisible by 6?

3. Prove that the tangent at any point of a circle is perpendicular to the

radius through the point of contact.
OR
PQ is a chord of length 8 cm of a circle of radius 5 cm. The tangents at P
and Q intersect at a point T. Find the length TP.

4. The sum of the radius of base and height of a solid right circular cylinder
is 37 cm. If the total surface area of the solid cylinder is 1628 sq. cm, find
the volume of the cylinder.

5. Mrs. Garg recorded the marks obtained by her students in the following
table. Find the mode of the given data.

Marks Obtained 0 -20 20 - 40 40 - 60 60 – 80 80 - 100

Number of Students 5 10 12 6 3

6. The lengths of 40 leaves of a plant are measured correct to the nearest

millimeter, and the data is obtained is represented in the following table:

Length (in mm) Number of Leaves

118 – 126 3
127 – 135 5
136 – 144 9
145 – 153 12
154 – 162 5
163 – 171 4
172 – 180 2
Find the upper limit of the median class.

SECTION-B (4 X 3 = 12)

7. Prove that opposite sides of a quadrilateral circumscribing a circle

subtend supplementary angles at the centre of the circle.
8. Find the roots of the given equation:

1 1 11
- = , x ≠ -4, 7
𝑥+4 𝑥−7 30

9. An areophane flying horizontally at height of 2500√3 m above the

ground, is observed to be at angle of elevation 60° from the ground. After
a flight of 25 seconds the angle of elevation is 30°. Find the speed of the
plane in m/sec.
OR

The shadow of a tower standing on a level ground is found to be 40m
longer when the sun’s altitude is 30° than when it is 60°. Find the height
of the tower.

10. Find the four terms of an AP, whose sum is 56. The ratio of the product of
first and the last terms to the product of the second and third terms is 5:6

SECTION – C (4 X 4 = 16)

11. Draw a line segment AB of length 8 cm. Using ruler and compasses, find a
𝐴𝑃 4
point P on AB such that = .
𝐴𝐵 7

12. Find the missing frequencies when the mean of data is 53

Age (in years) 0-20 20-40 40-60 60-80 80-100 Total

Number of people 15 F1 21 F2 17 100

Case Study-1

13. Due to sudden floods, some welfare associations jointly requested the
government to get 100 tents fixed immediately and offered to contribute
50% of the cost. If the lower part of each tent is of the form of a cylinder of
diameter 4.2 m and height 4 m with the conical upper part of same
diameter but of height 2.8 m, and the canvas to be used costs ₹100 per
sq.m.

(i)Find the area of canvas required to make a tent

(ii) Find the amount, the associations will have to pay.

Case Study-2

14. A Satellite flying at height h is watching the top of the two tallest mountains
in Uttarakhand and Karnataka, them being Nanda Devi(height 7,816m)
and Mullayanagiri (height 1,930 m). The angles of depression from the
satellite, to the top of Nanda Devi and Mullayanagiri are 30° and 60°
respectively. If the distance between the bases of the two mountains (DS in
the figure) is 1938 km, and the satellite is vertically above the midpoint of
this distance between the two mountains (√3=1.73).

(i) Find the distance of the satellite from the top of Nanda Devi.

(ii) Find the perpendicular distance of the satellite from the ground.
