SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. Discuss the effects of stressor to a person physical, mental and emotional well-
being.
b. Appreciate the effect of good mental health to the body and mind, and;
c. Create a plan to improve mental and emotional well being

II. Subject matter


TOPIC: Mental and emotional health
Material: visual aids, pictures, video presentation, instrument or music playlist.
References: grade 7 Quarter 3 module 1
III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary procedure.

B. MOTIVATION – “I SHOW IT! YOU TELL IT!”


Direction: The teacher will show a picture of someone in a certain situation, the students then
will try to guess what emotions is the pictures trying to implicate.
1. What do you observe in the first picture?
2. What does the second picture trying to implicate?
3. Does the third picture implying something?
4. What kind of emotions does the fourth picture trying to imply?
C. LESSON PROPER

1. ACTIVITY. “ROLE PLAY”


DIRECTION: The students will be divided into two groups and each group will be given a
scenario they will act.

a. Group 1 is given “The house on fire scenario”, Group 2 is given “Bullying scenario”
b. Students are given a time of 5 minutes to construct an idea on how to role play their
specified scenario.
c. The first group presented their role play
d. The second group presented their role play
e. The group who won the activity announced.
2. ANALYSIS.
a. What did you observe during our activity?
b. Are there any other emotions portrayed by the 2 different scenarios?
c. What do you think is the effect of those scenarios to the body and mind?
d. What do think are the ways to cope up with the situations that you presented?

3. ABSTRACTION
a. The teacher presented the topic “Mental and Emotional Health”
b. Teacher present a ppt containing the content of the topic. (ppt)
STRESS is defined as the psychological for (or physical) and emotional responses to a significant
or unexpected change or disruption in one’s life

stressor refers to the things that make a person stressed. There are two different kinds of stress-
eustress and distress
USTRESS refers to a positive and healthy response of the body from a stressor. It produces good
effects to one’s well-being. (video of someone experiencing USTRESS)
DISTRESS refers to a negative reaction of the body towards a given stressor. It may cause
problems in health, alter the mood and emotions, and even affect the way a person thinks.
(Video of someone in DISTRESS).

Three level of distress (alarm stage, Resistance stage, Exhaustion stage).

Health problems resulted by distressed. (video interview of someone suffered from stress
related problems)

Ways to reduce stress levels. (video of someone conquered the effect of stress).

GENERALIZATION.
o What is stress and stressor?
o What is the difference between eustress and distress?
o What are the effects of stress of stress and cite examples
o Give an example of ways to reduce stress levels
4. APPLICATION.
Direction: Create a plan to cope up with the effects of stress and improve mental and
physical well-being.
IV. EVALUATION
Direction: Identify the situation if it is a USTRESS or DISTRESS.
1. Being bullied.
2. Winning a competition after many months of preparation.
3. Passing the test after studying hard.
4. Being scolded by parents.
5. Being rewarded after doing a house chore.
V. ASSIGNMENT.
Direction: Write a reflection about how you cope up the stresses that you have experienced
during your lifetime.
