Title: Sub-topic
Introduction
The internet has become a crucial part of people’s everyday lifestyle. It allows them to

easily navigate through websites in search of information, house supplies, clothing, instructions

for travel and so much more. Because of its features, more and more people are seeking internet

use, yet the web is not as favorable for people’s well-being. The internet should not be perceived

as a resource that has facilitated people’s lives for the better because of the consequences its

constant users face both mentally and physically after browsing on the web.

Body 1
With a world filled with chaos because things are currently occurring, mental health

stability is important for a healthy life, yet problematic internet use has affected this factor in

people’s life. Through previous studies from Kim et al., Kaess et al., and Tam et al. have found

that there is a link between constant internet use and depression (Gansner et al., 1000). Following

this observation, Gansner et al. hypothesizes that “digital media use would worsen depressive

symptoms” yet through their study it was revealed that symptoms were worse on the day with

less smartphone usage (1000-1001). With their observations, it can be seen that internet use has

become so crucial in people's lives that they have developed an attachment to it. The participants

experiencing negative emotions when not having access to their smartphone show how people

have become attached to technology in comparison to studies from years prior. Another factor

that can contribute to the idea that it affects people’s mental stability can be shown through

longitudinal studies. For instance, Mars, et al.’s findings indicated that “females who reported

high levels of internet use were at higher risk of future depression and males were at increased

risk of self-harm” (11). Knowing these logistics allows people to watch out for these factors in

hopes of preventing mental disabilities.

Body 2
Counterargument
Despite the outcomes problematic internet use has brought to young adults, many will

argue that it is part of our new reality, and it has allowed people to become more efficient.

Body 3
Conclusion
As this paper has shown, the internet should not be perceived as a positive resource that

facilitates people’s lifestyle for the better because of the consequences its constant users face

after browsing on the web. Understanding the impact the internet has today allows people to

become aware of the issues that it produces among its users and find ways to prevent them.

Readers should become self-aware and question if they have experienced any of these effects

when using the internet. Through this awareness, the issues of internet usage can be reduced for

future generations.
