ABSTRACT
During my one month Internship, I immersed myself in the world of Rural Water
Supply & Sanitation. This training was more than just a requirement; it aimed to give
me a practical insight into the core industry, helping me develop a professional attitude
and refine my drawing skills.
This internship report delves into the intricate aspects of rural water supply and
sanitation, focusing on critical components such as overhead service reservoirs (OHSR)
tanks, pipeline layouts, and reinforced concrete (CC) drains. The exploration of OHSR
tanks involves understanding their significance in ensuring a reliable water supply to
rural communities. The report meticulously examines the design, construction, and
maintenance considerations for OHSR tanks, emphasizing their pivotal role in sustaining
water availability.
Additionally, the document scrutinizes the intricate layouts for pipeline systems,
aiming to optimize water distribution efficiency in rural areas. This section highlights the
importance of strategically planned networks, considering factors such as topography,
demand patterns, and future expansion. The analysis extends to cover technological
advancements and sustainability practices employed in pipeline design.
Furthermore, the report delves into the planning and implementation of CC drains for
effective sanitation in rural settings. It underscores the role of drainage systems in
preventing waterborne diseases and maintaining overall community well-being. The
exploration encompasses design principles, construction methodologies, and the
integration of CC drains into the broader water supply and sanitation framework.
Throughout the report, real-world case studies and practical insights gleaned during the
internship provide a contextual foundation for the theoretical discussions. By addressing
these critical facets of rural water supply and sanitation, the report aims to contribute
valuable perspectives and recommendations for enhancing water infrastructure in
underserved communities.
