Safety Instructions
The items described in this Instruction Sheet must only be used as spare parts in existing equipment. They must
only be used as a direct replacement for an item of the same number, unless otherwise stated. The prefix “S”
on some item numbers denotes “spare” and should be ignored when considering the replacement of an item.
The instructions in this document and in the manual for the original product must be observed. Local safety
laws and regulations must always be observed. Failure to do so will invalidate product approvals and
certifications on the original equipment.
Persons working on the product must be suitably skilled and should have been trained in that work for these
products.
Introduction
The DELTA Interface Board (DIB) is fitted to both the air-cooled and liquid-cooled DELTA units.
The DIB stores important personality information for both its own DELTA unit and the complete DELTA drive.
To avoid making the drive inoperative when a DIB is replaced, the instructions provided must be followed
exactly.
As the commissioning procedure differs slightly for different firmware versions, instructions are provided for all
versions from version 3.01. If your firmware version is earlier than version 3.01, the firmware must be
upgraded before proceeding.
Preparation
1. Ensure that the drive cannot run by disconnecting the ‘INTERLOCK’ signal from TB3 Pin 9 of the User I/O
Termination Panel.
2. Using the ALSPA Drive Data Manager™, open the menus by setting P1.31 = 2, then enter the Engineer
access code into P99.06. Navigate to parameter P99.16 – ‘Back Up Parameters’ and enter Option 1 –
‘Save to Drive’.
3. Navigate to P99.04 and note the firmware revision number. If the firmware version is earlier than 3.01
contact your customer support representative for a firmware upgrade. The firmware must be upgraded
before proceeding.
Installation
WARNINGS
• Wait at least 5 minutes after isolating supplies and check that voltage between DC+ and DC- has
reduced to a safe level before working on this equipment.
• This equipment may be connected to more than one live circuit. Disconnect all supplies before
working on the equipment.
• High voltages
Replace all shrouds and close all doors before energising the equipment.
CAUTION
This equipment contains solid state devices which may be affected by electrostatic discharge.
Observe static handling precautions.
1. Power down the drive and wait long enough to ensure that all capacitors have discharged.
2. Using the correct lifting equipment and following the advice in the appropriate ALSPA MV DELTA Technical
manual, disconnect and remove the ALSPA MV DELTA module that indicates a faulty DIB unit.
3. Locate the DIB (Part No. 20X4319/10) by reference to Figure 1 and remove the plastic shroud from the
side of the ALSPA MV DELTA unit.
4. Carefully note the position of ribbon cable connectors. Disconnect the ribbon cables from the faulty DIB.
For a liquid-cooled ALSPA MV DELTA unit, also disconnect the 2-way fan failure interlock connector (TB2)
adjacent to the four LEDs.
5. Partially slide out the faulty DIB and disconnect the yellow/green earth connection.
6. Remove the faulty DIB and replace with the new unit.
7. Reconnect all ribbon cables and the earth cable. For a liquid-cooled DELTA, remove and discard the plug
connected to TB2 and re-connect the 2-way fan failure interlock cable.
9. Refit the ALSPA MV DELTA unit into the drive and remake all connections.

Commissioning
1. At the ALSPA MV DELTA Controller note the position of ribbon cable connectors, PL2 to PL7, for all ALSPA
MV DELTA units and disconnect the ribbon cables.
2. Connect the ribbon cable of the repaired ALSPA MV DELTA unit to PL2 on the ALSPA MV DELTA Controller
so that it is, effectively, DELTA 1.
Do not connect any other ribbon cable to connectors PL3 through PL7 on the ALSPA MV DELTA Controller.
3. Power up the drive, it will indicate trip 68.
4. Using the ALSPA Drive Data Manager™ open the parameters by setting P1.31 = 2, then enter the Engineer
access code into P99.06. For software versions 4.0 and later, go to parameter P10.35 and enter option 4
‘New DIB’. On software version 3.01, go to parameter P10.35 and enter option 1 'Use Control Data'.
5. Communications with the ALSPA Drive Data Manager™ will be interrupted, but after a few seconds the
drive will report only an INTERLOCK trip (code 1).
6. Power down the drive and reconnect all the ribbon cables from the ALSPA MV DELTA Units to the ALSPA
MV DELTA Controller in the positions noted in step 1.
7. Power up the drive which should indicate trip 19.
8. Using the ALSPA Drive Data Manager™, for software versions 4.0 and later go to parameter P10.35 and
enter Option 8 ‘New # Deltas’. For software version 3.01, go to parameter P10.35 and enter option 2 'Use
SMPS Data'. After a few seconds the drive will indicate only a INTERLOCK trip (code 1).
9. Recall the saved parameters from the drive by going to parameter P99.16 and entering 2 – ‘Recall from
Drive’ to restore the drive’s parameter set.
10. Finally, re-enable the drive by reconnecting the ‘INTERLOCK’ signal to TB3/9 of User I/O termination
Panel.
