•Always wear eye and ear protection and avoid distractions.
•Don’t wear loose clothing and secure your material well.
•Dull tools are more dangerous than sharp ones.

•Stay alert and have care for yourself and others.
•Always use ground fault interrupter circuits.
•Do not use frayed cords.
•Unplug tools before touching cutting surface.

Saws:
Skilsaws:
•Portable electric circular saws.
•Adjust to various depths.
•Used make bevel cuts.

Direct-drive and worm gear–drive portable electric circular saws.
Circular saw blades:
•Available in a number of styles.
•Carbide-tipped blades are used more than high-speed steel blades.

Using the portable circular saw:
•Make sure work is secured.
•Adjust depth of cut so the blade cuts through the work.
•Rest forward end of base on the work and with the blade clear, start saw.
•Advance saw when blade has reached full speed, following the line closely.

When cut is competed, release the switch.

When cutting at an angle, for a miter or compound miter, it may be necessary
to retract the guard by hand.

Making plunge cuts:
•Lay out the cut and adjust the saw for depth.
•Wearing eye protection, hold guard open and tilt the saw up with front edge of
base resting on the work.
•With teeth clear of the work, start saw.
•Lower blade and advance saw to corner.
•Reverse direction and cut into the corner.
•Continue in this manner to cut the other sides.

Cordless circular saws can cut dimension lumber and are handy as trim saws.
