MEMORANDUM

Date: 25 March 2022

Subject: INDUSTRY INTERVIEW REPORT

1.0 INTRODUCTION

I. Terms of Reference
To investigate about the working experience and seek for advice from a Quality
Management Engineer through an interview session, as requested by Madam Shariah A.
Wahid, Professional English 2 Lecturer on 10 March 2022, Thursday.

1.1 Objectives of Industry Interview


The industry interview was conducted with two main objectives. First, to complete
Professional English 2 assessment. Second, to seek opinion from Sir. Ts. Muhamad
Aizuddin bin Mohd Kamel, an Quality Management Engineer about his working experience.

2.0 PROCEDURE
 An interview was held with Sir Muhamad Aizuddin Mohd Kamel, a quality
management engineer at Malaysia Transformer Manufacturing.
 Interview was held in Microsoft teams on 17 March 2022, Thursday at 6pm until
7pm.
 Information and personal experience were gathered during interview session from
17 March 2022.
 The picture of the interview session can referred at Appendix 2.
2.2 Questionnaire
 A set of question consisted of 15 questions has been set by us.
 The question are divided into 4 categories which are personal, company, experience
and opinion.
 Every question will be asked by us respectively.
 The question can be referred at Appendix 1.

3.0 FINDINGS
3.1 Interview Information
3.1.1 Personal Detail
Muhamad Aizuddin Mohd Kamel is a 29 years-old Test Engineer who work at
Malaysia Transformer Manufacturing in Ulu Klang, Kuala Lumpur.
He primary school was Sekolah Kebangsaan Padang Luas – Jerteh located in
Terengganu and his secondary school was SBP Integrasi Batu Rakit located in
Terengganu. After finish the secondary school he start his foundation at University
Petronas and continue his degree and currently he is still continue his master
(Master of science) part time.
After he finished his bachelors he start to work at Tamura Electronic Sdn.Bhd as a
electrical design engineer. The business of Tamura is focus on making Dry-type
transformer and he job scope was design transformer. After that he quit Tamura and
join the Malaysia Transformer Manufacturing and his career plan are finish his
master study by this year and apply as a professional engineer.

3.1.2 Work related matters


In Tamura Electronics Sdn Bhd, Mr Aizuddin is a Electrical design Enggineer. He
responsible to design the transformer. He need to draw the electrical circuit in Dyr-
type transformer.
And Malaysia Transformer, Mr. Aizuddin’s position is Test Enggineer in unit of
Quality Certification in Quality and Compliance Department. Unit of Quality
Certificate is very important in this field because this unit responsilblity to make sure
all the transformer in good condition to energize. In this unit, He need to lead his
subordinates to archive the target in a day. And make sure all his subordinates can
work smart archive the target everyday.
After the routine test transformer, this unit need to meet all customer who want to
buy the transformer. They will retest the transformer infont the customer to show
how the transformer energize and they will do inspection to the transformer. Then,
when customer satisfied with the transformer this unit will arrange to delivry to the
site given.

3.1.3 Project involvement


Mr. Aizuddin is currently has own project through master study at University
Technology Petronas (UTP) with his supervisor at UTP and his supervisor at TNB Labs
which is transformer specialist. The project is about algorithm of Frequency response
analysis (often referred to as FRA or SFRA) is a powerful and sensitive method for
testing the mechanical integrity of transformer cores, windings, and press frames, in
power transformers.
And he has project in test lab in Malaysia Transformer and currently he focusing to
complete commissioning for the Partial-discharge System for the test lab. All the
project is he currently do is for the task in master and to improve the test system in
Malaysia Transformer.

3.2 Company Background

Malaysia Transformer Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. (MTM) are start at 1977 and it
has positioned itself as “One stop Solution Provider” for the country’s electrical
Transformer market. MTM became a wholly owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional
Berhad in 2007.
As a specialist in the business, MTM offers wide and full range of products and
services with high quality Distribution Transformers up to 5000kVA with maximum
voltage of 33 kV and Power Transformer up to 100 MVA with maximum voltage of
150 kV.
3.2.2 Company Mission and Vision

Regionally and the mission of company are provide total transformer solution to help

3.2.3 Company Business

certified testing bodies such as ASTA, CESI and CPRI. MTM management system is

3.2.4 Company Policy

8. Provide the frame work for setting and reviewing Quality, Evironmental, Safety &
Health, Laboratory Management System objectives and targets of meeting
customers requirement in management review Meeting.

3.2.5 Process Manufacturing


The process flow of the MTM company are start from design to specifications
product, secondly production department will start the product of the transformer
which are design by the design engineer and take care about the product quality.
Thirdly, after production complete the transformer, the product will send to the
testing department and test the product to ensure whether the product is functional
able or not. After ensure the product functional, company will arrane Site Project
technician to install and test the product and do some commissioning if needed.
After done installed the product company will give the customer fully service, repair
and refurbish for the customer. If any company’s transformer broken they can also
send the production team back to us for repair and maintenance.
For the testing of the transformer, Testing is divided with 2 type, electrical test test
and Oil sample test for the insulation in transformer. If have any problem while test
begin, it will return to production team and retest again from the beginning. This is
flow chart to start routine electrical test and oil sampe test

4.0 Conclusion

From the interview conduct, we get to know more about Muhamad Aizuddin Mohd Kamel’s
career, working experience and studies background. We hope this interview session help us to
gain knowledge and will help on our upcoming career guidance. We also get more
information about transformers that how it manufacturing, testing, and how it works. We
hope we also will be successful in our career like Muhamad Aizuddin Mohd Kamel.
