For 1–5, use this information. Mr. Roy’s 1st hour earned the following percent scores on the last
test: 94, 88, 85, 96, 81, 74, 88, 91, 101, 98, 93, 82, 34, 77, and 83. Show all of your work and put
answers to the nearest tenth.
1. Identify the mean score on the test. #1 answer: ____________________
5. Distinguish which is the best way to represent this data (the best measure of central tendency)? WHY?
# 5 answer: Reason:
For 6–11, use this information. Ms. Christy bowled the following scores in 6 games: 143, 150, 139, 151,
148, and 136. Show all of your work and put answers to the nearest tenth.
6. Identify the mean score for her games. #6 answer: ____________________
10. Distinguish which is the best way to represent this data (the best measure of central tendency)? WHY?
# 10 answer: Reason:
11. Ms. Christy wants to average a 146, & she gets a special award if she does (she's in the “age 85 and up”
league). Identify the score she needs in her next game (7th game) to reach her goal. Show your work.
12. Missy wants to average a 91% on her math tests which are all weighted the same. So far, she has earned
the following grades: 94, 83, 86, 90. Identify the score she needs on her next test to bring her average up to a
91%? Show your work.
13. Biologists are worried about Asian carp invading Lake Michigan. They estimate the population monthly to
determine if the problem is getting worse. A biologist captures 70 carp and tags their fins. He then releases
the carp back into the water and, one week later, captures another 140 carp. Of those 140, 4 were tagged.
Estimate the total Asian carp population in Lake Michigan. Show your work.
For 14–21, use the information. Mr. Roy surveys the 7th grade boys on the football team (60 students) and
asked them which 7th grade camp class was their favorite. The results are displayed in the table below:
The Wall 15
Star Lab 11
14. Identify the percent of students surveyed enjoyed “Star Lab” the most? Taste of Nature 5
The Beast 1
Show your work. Incredible Journey 18
Fire Quest 5
Shelter Building 5
15. Identify the percent of the students surveyed enjoyed “The Wall” the most? Show your work. Be EXACT.
17. If there are 265 students in the 7th grade, estimate the number of 7th graders that like ANYTHING BUT “The
Wall.” Show your work. Put answer to the nearest tenth.
18. Identify the sample in this situation? 19. Identify the population in this
situation?
# 20 answer: Reason:
For 22–24, use the information. 90 snowboarders were asked which US state had the best snowboarding
conditions. The results are displayed in the bar graph.
25. There have been more car-deer accidents along I-69 this year, and the city wants to know if the deer
population has increased in the area. They capture and tag 50 deer. They release the tagged deer and, one
week later, capture another 100 deer. 9 of the 100 deer are tagged. Estimate the deer population in the area.
Show your work. Put answer to the nearest tenth.
26. Mr. Cravotta asked 60 students which core class was their favorite. Use the data in the table to create a
circle graph below. Make sure your circle graph has a title, a name in each slice, a percent in each slice, and a
