Family and friends are an important part of the patient care experience and we

encourage to have them visit our patient during their stay at Saint Francis Doctors’
Hospital and Medical Center. However, rest is vital for the recuperation of our dear
patient. Hence, the general hospital visiting time is 9:00 am – 8:00pm and may vary on
specialized units.

The following safety protocols have been put in place for the protection of everyone. We
appreciate your patience, understanding and cooperation.

Visiting Time

ICU/ PICU

 Visiting Time
 11:00am – 12:00 and 5:00pm – 6:00pm
 Visit are limited to 10 minutes at a time.
 Children under the age of 12 years may visit patients in the ICU at the
request of the patient and if they are supervised by an adult.
 Visitors may be asked to leave the unit during medical emergencies or
procedures involving any patient in the Unit, and/or during clinical
rounds or if having visitors will negatively affect the patient’s care.
 Please check with the ICU staff before entering a patient’s room to
make sure the patient is stable to receive visitors.

NICU

 Viewing Time
 9:00am – 12 pm and 4:00pm – 6:00pm
 Avoid knocking on the nursery glass window to minimize potential disturbance
of the babies.

Ward and Non Critical Area

 Visiting Time
o 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
 Visitors may visit anytime during visiting hours.

Age

 Children below 7 years old are not allowed, however, if there is a request from
the patient, they may be allowed provided there is proper coordination of the
nurse on duty with the attending physician, charge nurse/head nurse, nurse
supervisor on duty (NSOD) and guard on duty.
 Children should be primed by the family on what to expect to see and must be
supervised at all times by a responsible adult who is not the patient.

Health Status

 Visitor exposed to or having a communicable disease (tuberculosis, measles,

mumps, rubella, pertussis, flu or a cold, cough) should not visit or accompany the
patients and encourage to stay home.

Number of Visitors

 To ensure the comfort of every patient, it is always recommended to restrict the

number of visitors to two (2) at a time.
 If too many visitors arrive at once, the hospital cafeteria and lobby makes a
comfortable place to wait.
 Families are encouraged to discuss about when to schedule their visits in order
not to overwhelm the patient with too many visitors.
 While family and friends are very important, we also ask that visitors to honor the
patient's need for rest as they recuperate. Discuss to the patient's nurse about
any unusual visiting circumstances so that the medical staff can make any
necessary special arrangements based on the patient's individual circumstances.

Smoking and Drinking Alcohol beverages

 It is strictly forbidden to smoke and consume alcohol anywhere in the hospital.

Flowers
 While flowers are welcome for patients, there are some areas—especially
intensive care units—where flowers are strictly prohibited as they may promote
infection. Please make sure you are in contact with the nursing staff prior to
sending or delivering flowers.

Firearms

 For security reason, all firearms must be deposited at the security guard before
entering the hospital premises.

Religious Activity

 A religious group may be allowed to pray over, provided that the patient's status
is stable and there is no on-going procedure at the bedside. The guard should
coordinate with the headnurse/charge nurse of the unit and NSOD.

General Guidelines

 Hospital staff are delighted to support the time you and your visitors have
together. At times during your stay, they may ask visitors to leave for a short
period while care is delivered or during some medical procedures.
 It is expected of visitors to respect others' privacy, remain quiet, and stay in the
room or waiting area. Our goal is to create a serene and restful atmosphere that
will aid in each patient's recovery.
 Visitors and watchers are requested to refrain from making noise. Gambling is
absolutely prohibited in the hospital.
 To prevent cross-infection, sitting or lying on patient beds, anteroom and
hallways is prohibited

 All visitors must secure the “visitor’s pass” from the Information/Concierge desk
located at the main hospital lobby upon presentation of any ID to monitor the
number of visitors inside the room. Present the said pass to the security on duty
or Nurse on duty to allow entry to the patient’s room.
 Only one (1) watcher is allowed per patient. Watchers should secure a Watcher's
pass from ER during the admission process.
 All visitors must wear a surgical mask while in the hospital.
 All visitors must practice cough etiquette. Ensure that a surgical mask is on when
you cough or sneeze. Change the mask if it is soiled or damp. Throw the used
mask in the yellow trash bin and wash your hands afterward.
 Visitors must follow proper hand hygiene protocols such as frequent hand
washing and the use of hand sanitizers.
