Compute for the weighted mean per indicator. Interpret the result revealed and provide the
possible recommendations.
II. Use the Stepwise method to answer the following.
1.) A manufacturer of watches would like to examine preferences for digital versus analog
watches. A sample of n = 200 people is selected, and these individuals are classified by age and
preference. The manufacturer would like to know whether there is a relationship between age
and watch preference. The observed frequencies (f0) are as follows:
2.) Sensory isolation chambers are used to examine the effects of mild sensory deprivation. The
chamber is a dark, silent tank where participants float on heavily salted water and are thereby
deprived of nearly all external simulation. Sensory deprivation produces deep relaxation and has
been shown to produce temporary increases in sensitivity for vision, hearing, touch, and even
taste. The following data represent hearing threshold scores for a group of participants who
were tested before and immediately after 1 hour of deprivation. A lower score indicates more
sensitive hearing. Do these data indicate that deprivation has a significant effect on hearing
threshold? Test at the .05 level of significance.
3.) Hyperactive children often are treated with a stimulant such as Ritalin to improve their
attention spans. In one test of this drug treatment, hyperactive children were given a boring
task to work on. A psychologist recorded the amount of time (in seconds) each child spent on
the task before becoming distracted. Each child’s performance was measured before he or she
received the drug and again after the drug was administered. Because the scores on this task
are extremely variable, the psychologist decided to convert the data to ranks. Use a Wilcoxon
test wit a = .05 to determine whether the following data provide evidence that drug has a
significant effect:
