is a membrane based nitrogen generator The PRISM Pro-Line Nitrogen Generator GEN 1 is
which is housed in a stainless steel cabinet pre-engineered. Customers receive a Supplier
for marine, offshore and oil & gas land-based Master Document List (SMDL) which contains
industry applications. all documents and drawings supplied with
Proven technology is used in the design of these the package. The Supplier Master Document
systems. All components inside the stainless List also gives reference to documents, such as
steel cabinet are from well-known market Welding Procedures, NDE Procedures, Hydro
leading suppliers and cover the specifications Pressure Test Procedures, FAT Procedures,
that are typically defined by customers and and others. The SMDL references, finalized
engineering companies for the different documents, and drawings are all available
applications. during Bid Clarification Meeting (BCM).
The Manufactures Record Book Index (MRB
Air Product’s standards and specifications are

used for mechanical packages. This benefits
records and documentation that will follow
the end user by decreasing delivery time,
the unit. The same applies to the Operation &
reducing manufacturing costs, and reducing
Maintenance Manual Index (O&M index) and
risk of errors, as our expertise is built in. The

increases and feed air flow rate required decreases with increasing feed air pressure. Heater effect decreases with increasing
feed air temperature. Contact our Technical Services department to receive detailed perfomance information or to generate
computer simulations for your specific production requirements.
How Membranes Work

The PRISM PA/PB Nitrogen membrane ability to dissolve and diffuse through a
separator uses asymmetric hollow fiber membrane. Oxygen is a “fast” gas and is
membrane technology to separate and selectively diffused through the membrane
recover nitrogen from compressed air. wall while nitrogen is allowed to travel
along the inside of the fiber, thus creating
Atmospheric air contains 78% nitrogen, a nitrogen rich product stream. The oxygen
21% oxygen, and 1% other gases. The PRISM enriched gas, or permeate, is vented from
PA/PB membrane uses the principle of the membrane separator at atmospheric
selective permeation to produce high purity pressure. The driving force for the
nitrogen. Each gas has a characteristic separation is the difference between the
permeation rate, which is a function of its partial pressure of the gas on the inside of
the hollow fiber and that on the outside.
In the PRISM PA/PB membrane separator,
compressed air flows down the inside of
hollow fibers. “Fast” gases - oxygen, carbon
dioxide, and water vapor, and a small
amount of “slow” gases, pass through the
membrane wall to the outside of the fibers.
They are collected at atmospheric pressure
as the permeate. Most of the “slow” gases
and a very small amount of the “fast” gases
continue to travel through the fiber until
they reach the end of the membrane
separator, where the product nitrogen gas
is piped to the application.

PRISM® Pro-Line System GEN 1

PRISM Pro-Line Nitrogen Generator Gen 1 is available with the following configuations:

PRISM Membranes PB6050

High pressure membrane separators
(18 Barg, 82.2° C). This configuration
allows to valve each membrane module
for capacity regulation and feed air
reduction. This setup also allows
changing membrane separators while
the other units are still in operation. This
configuration is optimized for systems
that have critical minimum demand for
nitrogen 24 hours per day. The Air Products

The PA6050 membrane separators (PA6050/PB 6050)
have the same nitrogen production are designed to
characteristics as the PB series but with a ASME VIII, div.1
less robust shell. Well suited for nitrogen and certified to
systems that are continuously operating. PED 97/23/EC.

Air Products AS are ISO 9001, OHSAS 1800, FPAL, ACHILLES JQS certified and PED 97/23/EC certified
for the product group Nitrogen treatment skids, piping and pressure vessels.
