beggar by wearing worn-out clothes. He didn’t care what people said about him, even
when many children called out him “miser, miser” anytime he passed by. He thought his
pretending would save him from robbery. Days went by and Abdullah’s money was
growing pile. He was content with it.
One day he bought a big lump of gold with all money he had amassed. Then he dug the
ground near an unused well and put the gold there. He believed that no one would find
the place. Every night in the darkness, he visited the place alone. His mysterious visit
silently spread over the people in his town.
One night, as usual Abdullah did his regular visit. To his surprise, he found the ground
had been dug up and he didn’t find his gold. Then he cried in mourning. He howled and
made people assembled. He cried on and on. His wise neighbor said,” Do you want your
gold back? Just pick up a stone and put it into the hole.” The stricken man cried, asking,”
Why do you make fun of me? I am suffering right now!”
The wise man replied,” I’m not making fun of you, Abdullah. You just kept the gold and
gazed at it every day. You can do the same with the stone.”

Deep in the Earth, a region of very hot rock starts to rise. It is as hot as lava, but it is
not yet a liquid. The gigantic pressure of the Earth all around it keeps it solid.
Nevertheless, it slowly pushes its way up through the slightly cooler rock around it. It is
a balloon of solid rock, lifting up slower than a snail’s pace toward the Earth surface.
As it rises, the pressure of the rock around and above it becomes less and less. At a
certain point, that pressure drops so low that it cannot keep the rock balloon solid
anymore. The balloon melts. It becomes an underground liquid that we call magma – a
liquid imprisoned in an underground chamber of the solid rock around it.
Magma is more than a liquid rock. It also contains gas. Most of the gas is super hot
steam-super-stem heated to thousands of degrees, steam so hot that it glows. Other
gases include carbon dioxide (the gas that makes the bubbles in soft drinks) and gases
containing sulphur. But the main gas is super-steam. And now that the balloon is liquid,
the super-steam can escape.
The super-steam and other gases bubble out from the magma. Pressure builds up in
the magma chamber. Enormous amounts of pressure. Something has to give. A weak
area of rock in the ground cracks or a plug in the mouth of the volcano gives way. The
magma explodes out into the air. The volcano is erupting.

In boarding school, shy children can take advantage of interaction through communal
activities. Besides, boarding school offers a great variety of activities like art and
crafts, sports, and music that allow children to demonstrate excellence and develop
specialized skills in their free time. Furthermore, the structured way of life and strict
rules at boarding school help adolescents to get used to a well-ordered way of life
and to become more responsible and confident, and develop talents in leadership. At
the same time, boarding school provides relief for parents who are intensively
involved in their professions and careers. Professionally-trained teachers and
educators with pedagogical experience offer excellent education without the need for
parents’ constant supervision.
In spite of these good points, it is not advisable to send children to boarding school if
they are too dependent to their parents. Living in a boarding school, students are
demanded to study independently, to manage themselves, and to build relationship
with peers and teachers. Sent to a boarding school, dependent children will feel that
they are rejected by their family and therefore, they close themselves off from the
relationship with peers and teachers. In addition, there is a possibility of repeating
year.
Overall, boarding school gives good education but it is not recommended for children
who are strongly attached to their families. There is a danger that through loneliness
they may become frustrated and socially isolated.
10
C. Shy students will feel not secured.
D. Students still need parents’ supervision.
E. It is a good place to study for all children.

Hi, friends,
I have an interesting story to tell. It is a simple story but it conveys a deep message.
Listen carefully. There was a little boy who was very hungry. Then he saw a jar of
nuts on the table. I need to tell you that nuts were one of his favourite things to eat.
He said to himself, ”I’m hungry and I want to take these nuts. If only Mother were
11
here, she would just let me have these nuts. I’ll take a big hand.”As you can guess,
the little boy put his hand in the jar and took a big, big handful.
When he tried to pull his hand out, alas, he couldn’t. The neck of the jar was too
small. So his hand was stuck. He tried and tried again but he couldn’t get his hand
out of the jar along with the handful of the nuts. He began to cry because of this.
His mother walked into the room and asked, “What’s the matter? Why are you
doing?” Then she looked at the little boy’s hand in the jar and asked, ”What are you
doing?” The little boy kept crying and answered,” Mommy, I can’t take this handful of
nuts out of the jar. What should I do?”
“Well, Son. Don’t be so greedy, okay?” his mother said. “Just take two or three nuts
so that you can take your hand out of the jar easily.” The boy simply did her
advice….
