Title: Barangay Profiling and Solid Waste Situation Assessment

Objectives:

1. To discuss the role of the Barangays in the implementation of RA 9003


2. To gather Barangay profile and its current solid waste situation
3. To identify solid waste management and related issues of Barangays and how
they can address them
4. To provide an understanding of the Barangay’s role in the implementation of RA
9003

Session Flow:

1. The Facilitator will discuss the salient features of RA 9003 emphasizing the role
of Barangays in the implementation of RA 9003 and basic requirements on the
operation of MRF/MRS.

2. The Facilitator will present the Barangay Datasheet and its importance to the
overall SWM planning of the Barangay.

3. The Facilitator will discuss and explain each item in the Barangay Datasheet.

4. Barangays will be asked to fill up the Barangay Datasheet. This will be their
basis for the discussion.

5. The Facilitator will ask volunteer/s from the Barangays to discuss their
Barangay Datasheet.

6. An open forum will be conducted. The Facilitator will assess the issues and
problems presented and a possible solution and suggestions will be shared to
the Barangays.

Summary Statement: We are part of the problem. Therefore, we need to be part of the
solution. But identifying the appropriate solution comes from good understanding or
reading of the situation.

 Concerning the NPOA – ML Strategy 8: “SOCIAL MARKETING AND
COMMUNICATION”, we will conduct public awareness campaigns and educational
programs to raise awareness about solid waste management issues, promote
responsible waste disposal practices, and encourage community participation in
waste reduction and recycling efforts.
 Concerning the NPOA – ML Strategy 10: “STRENGTHENING LOCAL ACTIONS”, we
will create a task force team composed of our BPSO, Purok Presidents, BNS, and the
Sangguniang Kabataan Council to ensure the proper segregation and proper practice
towards cleanliness. This is to create a task force that can focus on the said program
and annihilate bags of trash around the barangay.
