Detailed Lesson Plan

TLE Grade 7

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates an understanding of the concepts and underlying principles in
interpreting simple technical drawings and plans in electrical installation and
maintenance.
B. Performance Standard The learner independently performs proper maintenance of electrical tools and
equipment based on industry standards.
C. Learning Competencies Apply the appropriate hand tool for the given task
Competency Code: TLE_IAES7/8UT-) B-3

At the end of the 60 minutes discussion, the students should be able to:

1. Describe the different kinds of electronic hand tools and test equipment;
2. Understand the importance of each hand tools and test equipment in the work
place; and
3. Use and demonstrate the function of the different kinds of electronic hand tools
and test equipment.

II. CONTENT

B. Other Learning Resources Lab tools and equipment, speaker, lead, stranded wire, laptop and projector.
IV. PROCEDURES Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity
A. Reviewing Previous Lesson
or Presenting The new Review
Lesson
“Before we start our lesson, Let me ask you
some questions, have you tried to repair your
gadgets or devices?”
“Yes Sir”
“Can you share what tools you had been used
to repair?”

“Sir I used screw drivers, cutters

“Thank you for sharing” and tapes”

B. Establishing the Purpose

of the Lesson Motivation

“Let me show to you some pictures that are

related to our topic, kindly observe
it.”(flashing some pictures)

(Observing the picture)

“There are many common tools used in the

electronics activities and There are numerous
kinds of electronics tools which are used on
each activity.”

“Based on what you had seen, what can you

say about the picture?”
“The person is not using the appropriate
tool for turning the screw, sir.”
“Thank you, Is there anyone can give more
explanation?” “Sir, the person used scissor to strip the
wire.”

“Thank you, so is there anyone can guess our

topic for today?” “Sir, I think it’s all about the electronic
hand tools and test equipment.”

Introduction of Topic

“Very good, our lesson for today is all about

electronic hand tools and test equipment. Our
lesson objectives are the following, kindly
read Mr. Christian.”
OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the 60 minutes

discussion, the students should be
able to:

 Describe the different kinds of

electronic hand tools and test
equipment:
 Understand the importance of each
hand tools and test equipment in
the work place; and
 Use and demonstrate the function
of the different kinds of electronic
hand tools and test equipment.

C. Presenting Examples/
Instances of the Lesson Activities

“Before we proceed into our discussion, let’s

have first our activity.
“This game will be called as “GUESS
WHAT”,
“Yes, Sir”
“The class will be divided into 2 groups, this
will be the group 1 and this will be the group
2 and choose your leader.”
the mechanics are:
 Leaders will read each description for
the members to guess.
 After reading, the rest of the group will
pick the exact tool that was described
by the leader and put it in front.
 Each group will be given 1 minute only
to do the activity

“Is the mechanics clear?”

“Ok, Let’s start”’ “Yes, Sir”

(student’s actively participating)
D. Discussing New Concepts
and Practicing New Analysis
skills#1
“Based in our activity, the uses of each hand
tools and equipment were given by the
descriptions; You can distinguish the
different use of each hand tools and
equipment by reading it.”

“Now, what is the use of screw driver?”

“Very good, Sir, it is use to insert and tighten, or to
How about the side cutters, what can you say loosen and remove screws.
about it?”

“Can you use it to grab or turn anything?” “It’s a wire cutting plier’s sir.”

“Thank you,
No Sir, it is not used to grab or turn
How about this one? The wire stripper, tell
anything.
me your idea on how to use this.”

“Very good,
This soldering iron has heating element, who
can tell me its purpose?” “Sir, it is use to cut the insulation of a
wire”
“How low is the power of soldering iron that
you should use?”

“Very good, “Sir, it is use to apply heat to melt

In our activity, this multi tester measures solder.”
what?”

Sir I think it’s around 20 to 30 watts

“Thank you,
Desoldering pump is always accompanied
with soldering iron, does anyone knows how
to use it?”
“Sir, it measure volt, resistance and
milli ampere.”

Sir it is used in removing soldered

wires and components on
printed circuit boards for
troubleshooting and repair
Purposes.
E. Discussing New Concepts
and Practicing New Skills “Now, I’m going to demonstrate on how to
use each of it, please pay attention to learn on
#2
how to use it.”

(the teacher demonstrate each electronic hand (students are observing the
tools and test equipment) demonstration)

F. Developing Mastery
(Leads to formative Abstraction
Assessment)
“To appreciate more of our lesson, we will be
having another activity, go

to the same group as earlier and please fall in

line.”
“Yes, Sir”
“Each one of you will be given any of these
hand tools or test equipment; you’re going to
perform on how to use it by the following
step by step procedure in repairing a
speaker.”
steps are:
 Open
 Cut
 Splice
 Solder
 Test
 De solder
 Close
(students are demonstrating the uses of
tool and equipment)

G. Finding Practical
Applications of Concepts “If you will open an amplifier casing, what is
the appropriate hand tool to be use?”
and Skills in Daily living
“To remove a component in a circuit board, “Sir it’s Screw Driver”
what hand tool is always accompanied with
soldering iron?”

“Instead of using a scissor to cut wire, what “Sir it’s Desoldering pump”
is the appropriate hand tool you should use?”

“To remove wire insulation you what king of

hand tool you should use?” “Sir it’s Side Cutter”

“Sir it’s Wire Stripper”

H. Making Generalization and
Abstraction About the “Now, to identify who among you have
learned the lesson, you’re going to give the
Lesson
description/ describe each electronics hand
tools and test equipment by using a graphic
organizer, write your answer on the box,
under each name of electronic hand tools and
equipment.”

“Give your thought:

Was Electronic Hand tools And Test
Equipment important?”

“Yes, In working place, each one of

electronic hand tools and test
equipment are very important.
Therefore, if my tools are not complete,
it may effect on what I am doing in my
working place. So better I’ll have it
before I start.
