At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. identify the three phases of matter;
b. determine whether the object is a solid, liquid, or gas; and
c. give examples of a solid, liquid, and gas.

D. Lesson proper
Our lesson for today is all about, "Three Phases

of Matter."
There are three phases of matter namely; solid,

liquid, and gas.
Let's discuss them one by one class.
The first one is solid.

SOLIDS - relatively rigid, definite volume and
shape. In a solid, the atoms and molecules are
attached to each other. They vibrate in place
but don't move around.
So, I have here a stone, a stone is one of the

example of solid, because it has a definite
shape that occupy spaces.
Always remember class, we can determine the

object if it is a solid, if we can touch and see it.
The second phases of matter is liquid.
2. LIQUIDS - definite volume but able to change

shape by flowing. In a liquid, the atoms and
molecules are loosely bonded. They move
around but stay close together.
I have here an empty cup and a water. It only

shows that the liquid takes the shape of the
cup.
So, the third phases of matter is gas.
3. GASES - no definite volume or shape. The

atoms and molecules move freely and spread
apart from one another.
This balloon is filled with air inside and the air is

an example of gas. Air cannot be seen, because
it's colorless but it can be felt.
There are also gases that can be seen like

smoke and clouds.
E. Application
So now class, let's have an activity, I will divide

the class into two groups.
Direction: Put the pictures in it's state of matter
and paste it on the board.
( students will do the activity)
