Workshop Report
Required materials
Mild steel solid cylinder (given dimensions)
Required Tools
1. Hammer
2. Try square
3. Centre Punch
4. Steel ruler
5. Divider
6. Flat file
Required Machine-Vice
Procedure
The required dimensions were marked on the mild steel
by using Centre Punch, Steel Ruler and Try Square.
In the Vice, we removed the unneeded parts with flat
file.
Then, we drilled a 12mm diameter hole in the center of
the Hexagonal solid steel and threaded it with a 11mm
diameter hand threading tool.
Finally, here we got a 11mm Hexagonal nut.
Precautions
We should wear gloves.
We must file away the chips from us.
When filling, we should keep our eyes on dimensions.
Conclusion
We know the use of various files and how to make
Hexagonal nut.
Required materials
1. Mild steel metal sheet (given dimension)
2. Electrode (3.2mm, No.10)
Required Tools
1. Electric cable or Holder
2. Earth cable of clamb
3. Chipping hammer
4. Gloves
5. Face Shield
Required Machine
1. Dc generator
2. Electric arc welding machine
3. Welding table
Procedure
Firstly, we connected DC generator, electric arc
welding machine and electrode cable holder with power
supply. To get the flow current, the power must be
switched on.
The current should be between 500 t 600 A(about 6000
degree Celsius) so that mild steel can withstand.
With the method of tapping or striking an arc, we made
the tack to weld. This time we must be careful of the
edges of two sheets were contacted well.
After welding, we removed the slags with the use of
chipping hammer and we get the Butt Joint.
Again, we welded to get the lap joint on both sides by
lapping one sheet of metal on the half the rest sheet of
metal.
We removed the slags again and there we the Lap Joint
again.
Precautions
Protective suits must be worn to protect from infrared
radiations, flame and spark. (Face Shield, Gloves, Safety
shoes)
We must follow the instructor’s guidelines carefully.
Conclusion
Welding shop gave the idea of welding process and how
can we make the welding joints. Moreover, It also lets us
know how to improve the welding techniques in coming
generations.

Required Materials
Wood piece (given dimensions)
Required Tools
1. Iron plane
2. Folding ruler
3. Try square
4. Cross-cut saw
5. Tenon saw
6. Marking gauge
7. Mortice chisel
8. Firmer chisel
9. Hammer (or) Mallet
Required Machine-Vice
Procedure
First of all, the wooden piece was made to be
smoothened by iron plane.
Then, folding ruler and marking gauge were used to
mark dimensions on wooden piece.
After that, we put the wooden piece firmly in the vice
and cut out into two with cross-cut saw. Also
unneeded pieces were chopped by using tenon saw and
firmer chisel.
We used try square to check if the surfaces were
perpendicular or not.
When we got the dimensions we needed, we jointed the
two wooden pieces in the shape of “T”.
Precautions
We should wear gloves using cross-cut saw and tenon
saw.
To avoid getting the unbalance wooden pieces, we
should stand in right position in the time of using the
plane.
A wooden bar should be firmly equipped in a vice jaw
to keep away from moving.
Conclusion
Carpentry shop gives us the knowledge of where to use
the carpentry tools and about the different types of wood.
It also helps us in inventing new techniques for
environmental sustainable buildings.
Required materials
Mild steel solid cylinder (given dimensions)
Required tools
1. Turning tool high steel
2. Threading tool high steel
3. Vernier caliper
4. Tool cutting gauge
5. Screw pitch gauge
Precaution
The instructor’s guideline should be well listened while
handling of lathe machine.
The full protective suits must be worn. (Safety, Shoes,
Goggles, Safety hat)
Conclusion
We know the working process of machines and ways to
make difference kinds of machine products. We can get
lots of experiences in using Machines.
