Once there lived a tortoise and a hare in a forest. They were good friends. The tortoise
was known for his slow speed. The hare was proud of his speed and he often made fun of the
tortoise’s slow speed.One day the tortoise challenged the hare to a race. The hare agreed and a
horse was selected as the referee. The race started and the overconfident hare ran fast and
attained a lead in the initial stage. The hare now felt like taking a short nap as he believed that
he could overtake the slow tortoise any time and reach the target. The hare slept. When the
hare woke up he realized that he had overslept.He began to run fast to overtake the tortoise
who slowly and steadily was reaching the target. The tortoise reached the target before the
hare could do so and won the race.
Moral of the story: ‘Slow and steady wins the race.

Once upon a time there lived two cats in a village. One day they were hungry; they searched for
food but could not find anything to eat. Soon they spotted a loaf of bread on the road. Each of
them was greedy and wanted to eat the bigger portion of the bread leaving the smaller portion
to the other. They were arguing as to who should get the bigger share of the bread. A monkey
who was passing by was amused when he heard the two cats fighting with each other. He was
clever. He offered to help the cats solve their problem and the cats also agreed to it. He bit a
small portion of the bread and ate it. He then bit a portion of the larger portion to equalize it.
He kept on repeating this act till only a small portion was left behind. He ate that piece also
saying that it was his fees. The two cats stood dumbstruck having realized their folly and
remained hungry that day.

him. The lion look it as challenge to his authority. He told him to show other lion. The hare took
him to a deep well. The lion looked into the well and saw his image in the water considering it
to another lion. He jumped into it and died.

There was a village on the outskirts of a forest. A shepherd boy used to take his herd
of sheep across the fields to the lawns near the forest.One day he felt very boring. He wanted
to have fun. So he cried aloud "Wolf, Wolf. The wolf is carrying away a lamb". Farmers working
in the fields came running and asked, "Where is the wolf?". The boy laughed and replied "It was
just a fun. Now get going all of you".The boy played the trick for quite a number of times in the
next few days.After some days as the boy, perched up on a tree, as singing a song, there came
an wolf. The boy cried loudly "Wolf, Wolf, The wolf is carrying a lamb away." There was no one
to come. The boy shouted "Help! Wolf! Help!" Still no one came to his help. The villagers
thought that the boy was playing mischief again. The wolf carried a lamb away.

Once a farmer lived in a village. He was very poor. He had a large family. So he passed
his days with great difficulty.One day someone gave him a hen. It laid a golden egg daily. He
sold the egg in the market and made his living. soon he became rich.But he became greedy. He
wanted to become rich overnight. He decided to kill his hen to get all the golden eggs in her
stomach at once. So he took a knife and cut the hen’s stomach. But when he killed the hen, he
found not even a single egg. He was sad and disappointed. He lost not only the golden eggs but
also his only source of income, the hen also. His greed ruined him.
One day a wood cutter's axe accidentally fell into a river. The poor wood cutter made a
good search in the water.But his efforts were in vain. Finally he burst into tears. Hearing his
sobs, River Godess appeared before him.The Godess dived into the river and came up carrying a
golden axe. The wood cutter did not accept it. He stated that his axe was made of iron.The
Godess disappeared and soon returned with a silver axe. The wood cutter again denied that it
was his axe.The Godess once again plunged into the river. It soon reappeared carrying the axe
of the wood cutter. The poor man greeted the angel with words of profuse thanks and great
joy.The Godess was impressed by the man's honesty.She presented him with the golden and
silver axes in recognition of his truthful nature.
Moral of the story : Honesty is always rewarded.
Once upon a time there lived a pair of geese and a tortoise and all three were great friends.
One day they faced a huge drought and the lake in which they lived was drying up. They
decided to leave the lake and look for a new lake. But the tortoise could not fly. So the geese
thought of a plan, where by the tortoise would have to hold a piece of stick by its mouth which
would be carried by the two geese. The only condition was that the tortoise should not speak or
it will fall from the stick to death. The tortoise agreed to be silent. But on seeing this strange
arrangement, people on the way started laughing at the tortoise. Unable to control his anxiety,
he spoke out "What are they laughing about?", and so he fell to his death. If he had kept quiet
he could have saved his own life.
